Families of Prisoners Support Group
This community is dedicated to families that have been disrupted by prison. Having a loved one incarcerated or having been incarcerated comes with its own unique challenges that require support and understanding. Join the group to find others who know what you're going through, and to seek advice or share your experience.
Let's look at this with some common sense and critical thinking. I want you to sit down, relax, and use some deductive reasoning that God gave you.
Sometimes we allow our imagination to get carried away and begin thinking negative thoughts and about things that most likely will never happen. I call that "borrowing heartache."
You said the you don't know if your guy is OK. Let's go over the possibilites that COULD happen to someone in jail or prison: 1) he could have had a massive heart attack or became sick and died----not likely at all since he is a very young man in age, and if he had died or something terrible had happened to him, his father would have been notified. 2) He could have gotten beaten to a pulp---not likely since his charges are very ordinary---not sex crimes--- and he has been in long enough to learn the ropes of prison or jail life. 3) He could have escaped----you did not hear about an escape on the news, did you? 4) He could have gotten into some trouble and sent to SHU or lockup. If that is the case, he is fine, just out of circulation for a while.
So your guy is OK. He is probably busy (people actually DO things in prison other than watch TV and eat Ramen Noddles!!). The mail could be delayed---as it is many times in prison. Maybe he just has not felt like writing (inmates DO have their down days just as you do). Maybe he is out of writing materials----inmates do not have a local Wal Mart in there when they need writing supplies. They have to wait until "draw down" day to go to the local canteen. The phones may be down or busy. There are lots of inmates wanting to call and very few phones in jail or prison.
You might not be hearing for a hundred reasons.
You are going to cry and get yourself all worked up over nothing. Contrary to popular belief, once a guy establishes himself in prison, he is usually relatively safe.
Try to attack this problem from a common sense point of view and you will feel better.

Sometimes we look for roadblocks ahead of us, only to find when we get there, the roadblock is gone.
Many of you are lucky to get a couple of calls a day. I am lucky if I get a call a week. Not trying to sound poor me, but just letting you see that you could have it a lot worse.
