Ggggrrr can I yell at him for you??
No, you are not wrong at all and I will tell you why. You were the mother of your children and I am sure you were not a wealthy family when they were growing up. There were times I know you must have done without yourself so your children could have decent things. You sacrificed for those children. You worried about those children when they were ill because you loved them. You gave your all---everything in your body and soul--- to give those children what they needed to go on with their adulthood and be a success.
You must have done a pretty damn good job of raising your children if you son makes a good enough living to buy Rolex watches and Gucci bags.
So, should you expect a little help and compassion in return now that you are having problems? You bet you should. And they should be helping without you having to ask.
You made those children what they are today and your son might have never been successful if it had not been for you.
I don't know how much they "owe" you and I am not sure "owe" is the proper word, but you son should realize all this without having to be told and be proud to help his mother.
Unfortunately, the younger generation does not have the values that the older generation does. They belong to the "me" generation and sometimes are a little selfish.
I have always considered it a moral obligation to help one's parents when they are older and need help. I supported both my mother and father, with both money and a lot of time, when they became old and sick.
Mom passed away in 2011 and I buried dad three months ago, but I don't regret one thing I ever did for them.
I hope things start to look up, Pat.

It's only fair that your son helps you after all you have done for them.
Hugs pat.
HUGS; hope they come to their senses.
I have two older brothers, and 1 of them acts the same way with my Mom and it makes me angry. I am not sure why adult children feel like they do not have any obligations when it comes to their parents? But, your son does have an obligation to help you in any way he can, and he should want to help.
My parents are getting older in age and my Mom is not in good health. They have both told me that they do not want to burden me with helping them withthings because my plate is already full. I tell them that is nonsense, as they have dedicated their lives to their children and have always been there to pick us up, dust us off and put us back on the right plan. I also tell them that it will be my pleasure when the time comes for me to take care of them. Because, without them...I would be nothing. ;-)
