Don't think about when think about now. One day at a time.

I totally agree with dematt,,, your going to drive yourself insane by worrying about thd what ifs,,, just focus on today,,, none of us can predict what the future holds , nor can we change the past, need to live in the moment,,, let this be his recovery,

I've been thinking about you and wondering how things have been.

As my husband and I always say....one day at a time. It's all you can do. Don't look too far into the future, just take it one day at a time.

You're right, you may not be able to be with him when he gets out. But that's so far ahead right now. All you can do is focus on the here and now. I know it's hard because if you're anything like me, you're a planner. I am not good at going with the flow. But, in these situations, you have to just take it day by day.

While he's getting himself clean in rehab, what do you plan to do with yourself?

I plan on crying and sleeping mostly. Seeing my therapist a lot. And trying to feel human again. I'm exhausted. I have a lot to sort through while he's in treatment.

They finally have his paperwork processed. But still no bed for him. He calls back tomorrow.

I hate this waiting.

I know this is hard on you, Waiting and the anxiety of wondering if he will use. He must be going to a state run program for them to have to wait for a bed. Have you checked into other state facilities to see if they have a bed?

This facility takes his medical card from DSHS. It's one of the nicest in the area. They have a high success rate. And a wait list. His counselor who is former heroin user, recommended this facility. I'm just stressed out and tired. I gotta keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason.

my son went thru the same thing...It takes a while sometimes and I also thought I was going to loose it before he went back to jail and then into treatment...He will be there for another 6 months...Just hang in there...You can do this...Find a distraction !! I would run away to the gym just to have my own peace in a positive environment. Deep breathes my friend.. Just before my son started serving his sentence ( he tried to rob a drugstore for oxys )...I thought I was going to either go mad or kill him one. It was soo hard keeping him from going sideways and really destroying his life even more before he was incarcerated. He finally was locked up in January...Now, He is in a rehab program for the remainder of his sentence !! My son has been clean and sober for a little over 6 months now and still has another 6 months to go....But he is starting to act and look normal for the first time in forever....Namaste

I am so happy to hear he is getting into a program. I wish my spouse would admit he is an addict, since living in another state and has not contacted me or our son in 4 months. I think in September I am going to fly to Missouri and look him face to face so I can have some kind of closure in my life. He seemed to move on with his, drugs and x from 25 years ago.
