Big hugs and a huge smile!
Let me try to offer a bit more hope to those that are feeling as though situations are hopeless......trust me....everyone of us has been in those shoes! My son is a 23 yo Heroin addict (ughhhh....do we ever get used to saying that?!?!) he struggled with drugs and addiction for several years, reached a point that he didn't want to remain in (with much prodding and encouragement from my husband and myself). He finally agreed to long term residential treatment. He remained there for 7 months, transitioned to a sober living house for another 6 months. He has been clean / sober for 16 months, continues to work his program, and works FT as a House Manager at a Sober Living House. He is happy, becoming more confident, and continues to be more engaged with his family!
The treatment program that we chose for him was Decision Point in Prescott, Az. It wasn't cheap, but thankfully our insurance covered a good portion of it:) they have addicts from all over the country in their residence. They have a good reputation, but is a tough program! They don't hesitate to kick someone out if they feel they are not committed to their recovery. It worked for our family. So far.....we continue to take 1 day at a time, and continue to Serenity Prayer often!
So, there is hope........please....never give up hope!!
