Prison based treatment/ dosa
deleted_user
Hi I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the prison based dosa? I am wondering how it compares to treatment at a outside facility. Also does anyone know if it is Christ centered? My husband may be doing prison based dosa and I am wondering if it is a good program. Of course I believe that any treatment has value.
Thanks

I would check your State's DOC website for information about the way they run their program. You can also try calling human services for your state and taking to someone there.

I worked in my State's DOC for 16 years; each program (from my experience) has the same core values and goals. Many programs have Chaplains as their facilitators, as well as outside speakers - many of whom are successful ex-inmates. The success of any program depends upon the desire of the inmate to "get well" and stay in a program upon their release. My son is in prison for 2 years due to drug addiction so I can certainly understand your concerns. Take care of yourself and you might consider attending an Al-Anon meeting for support.

Doesnt a lot of this depend on the philosophy of the warden? Like there are a few different theories of prison thought and not all of them believe in offering rehab. I know here at the local county level you can get sentenced to up to a year (before you go to a State prison), and it is a basic warehouse of criminals. No real rehab to speak of. I know addicts need to want to get better but I think if prison had more of a recovery centered thought we would see less people reoffending and a higher percentage of recovery.

I really do not know about other states' programming requirements, but in Ohio programming is usually mandated through the Director's Office and made available for distribution throughout the facilities/prisons. I really don't know about any programming available in the county jail system which is a dire shame. Any programming - AA, NA, Anger Management, etc., - in my personal experience - is not "successful" unless the inmate is truly into their rehabilitation and wellness. I really would like to see similar programming in the middle schools to try and get juveniles on the right road before they enter the "system".

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
