So, yesterday, my kid comes up in the morning to talk to me about a private message his 'birth father ' (the idiot) sent him. He wants my son to call him and his 'grandmother' (grand MONSTER) about getting into business doing a marijuana dispensary. ARE YOU FREAKKING KIDDING ME? Now, my outlook on pot is different than most, I don't smoke it, but I've never heard of someone in a bar brawl because they smoked a joint. Or driving on the wrong side of the highway because they smoked a joint. I've seen my brother scream in pain from his stump where he lost his leg and all pain meds don't cut it, but if he smokes a joint, he's okay...I've seen cancer patients smoke a joint and it helps easy the chemo treatment after effects. I could go on and on...BUT at this point in the kids life, he is trying to get clean of EVERYTHING including cigarettes. So you send him this? YOU IDIOT! He knows they are 'crooks' and opted it was a bad idea.

I have had an 'incling' that since the breakup with the gf, my son was very sad, and he went out a couple times, came home after we were sleeping. Although he didn't admit freely, I knew he started drinking again, which has been a LONG time since he drank.

So yesterday, he announced in the evening, he took himself to an AA meeting. Could this be a good sign? He said, he has two choices, get clean and he can't do it alone and this he finds, is the best way to go, or he goes back into the military, which is where his drinking issues started 6 years ago.....

So I will sit quietly on the sidelines for right now, give him praise for his first HUGE step in realizing it is something he can't do 'alone'. He is going to orientation for school today and very excited. Along with his electronics background he is going for HVACR....so with fingers crossed, I wish him the best and hoping he has finally realized sometimes we ALL need to ask for help from others.

This is such a lifelong battle that he will fight, but I KNOW he CAN do it, but needed to find this all within himself.
