Hi everyone. I think I may need serious help. For the past 7 years + my wife has been having issues she thinks is medical and has been through multiple surgeries etc... with no affect. During this time she's had a pain mgmt dr who's had her on Percocet, Oxycontin and valium and I believe she's addicted. I can't seem to find anyone in my personal life I can relate to about this so i'm hoping this group can help. Last year she took a mouth full of oxy and I got her to spit it out. I called 911 and had her in the ER. I even lied to the dr' s because I couldn't see her in an institution. Personally though I think that really messed with my head. Is there anyone out there that can relate to me??????

Thanks everyone for your words. I'll def check out that Codependant book. Tonight I even attended an online Nar-Anon meeting. For anyone in these groups either in person or online with is more suitable Al-Anon or Nar-Anon. Is Al-Anon just for families and friends of Alcoholics? This is the first time I've actually attempted to seek help for myself, which is the point I'm at because I need my life back. I've lost too many years and too much time. This is the first time I've actually shared with people who may be able to understand. I haven't tried therapy yet but I don't know what talking to a stranger would do, I may tried that was well that, I've got to do something. I've started hanging out with alot of people that I work with going out to lunches and going out after work and I can't explain how good it feels to just be with other people and be myself again. At first I didn't even remember how to be me. Spent my late 20s and most of my 30s this way when mostly everyone I know was having fun, getting married having kids etc.....

Thanks again to everyone, I really appreciate it and i know I enable her, I just have a guilt complex which I need to get rid of.

Good for you attending a Nar-Anon meeting!

Al-Anon and Nar-Anon are both suitable for families of addicts for all types of substances. They both are based on 12 step programs. I've found that, because the focus is on the people attending getting better instead of the addicts, we often don't even know anything about the addict or alcoholic.

Just find a group of people that works for you, where you feel comfortable. Every group is different.
