I found out this weekend, that my nephew was committed to a hospital after a fight. It turned out that my nephew has been battling addiction along with bi-polar disease for almost two years. I had my suspicions, but I didn't know for sure. I spoke with my brother and sister in law in great length, my son is trying to direct them. My heart is broke for them, because as we all know the pain, the anguish, and the fear of the unknown. What is most profound, is that they know what I have gone through with my son, and they were very supportive. I asked why didn't they call me I could have helped, and like myself, and so many others, they wanted to protect my nephew.

The disease of addiction and mental illness runs so deep, and it strikes at any time, when I spoke with my sister in law, that pit in my stomach immediately came back. I guess you tuck some feelings away, but they are always at the surface.
So I will ask for your prayers and I will do whatever I can for my nephew, and my brother and his family. One day at a time.
