Yup, still here, just been extremely busy at work...so has my son, thankfully. He took a job as a dishwasher at the Golf Club that his gf works at and got promoted to line cook this week, which is great, because he is truly happy. He likes the job, the boss, and he works whenever they call him in extra...he takes the train from here, gets a bus and it's a 2 hour jaunt that way, it is only 45 min. away, but he hasn't gotten his license yet, in our state it is a 4 month wait for the drivers test...it is insane, anyway.....
So in March, we gave him until 6/24 to find a place to live, get his life started. I WILL give him this, he has been working hard, he has been the kid of 'old days' and fun to be around, he'll have a beer with his step dad and hang out, and he does whatever is asked of him. And his eyes, his weight, everything is as was prior to his drug issues...he has gained weight, muscle, looks great.
SO, he came to me yesterday and as I drove him to the train, he asked if he could stay a little while longer, asking for a couple weeks. My response certainly was what he expected. Although I'll say this, he is only here about 3 days a week, the other days he stays at his GF house when he is working, so it is not like he is laying around all day doing nothing like he use to.
So I told him his step dad and I need to talk about it. So we will, but LORDIE my sister will be 'i told you so, I TOLD you this would happen, blah blah blah...." But on the flip side, he is doing better than he has in months, he isn't freaking out at every little thing, he isn't sleeping all day, even if he is here on a day off, he is up at 6 am, takes a shower and works out.
I want him to get out on his own for sure, so I think we'll have to charge him per week, and charge him for rides to the train, unless I'm going to work and it is right next door and I can drop him off. I'll take the money and put it aside for him, without HIM knowing it and when he gets his place, he can use that.
The issue is this, his GF is a twin, SHE wants to move in with the sister and her bf, but my son doesn't like the twin, she is not very nice he said and he is not comfortable with the way she uses her sister (his gf), she takes $$ out of her bank acct etc...and she doesn't work, etc...HE wants just him and the GF to get their own place, which I get that.
So, I'm hoping that God will guide me in making the right decision.
I know he isn't perfect, but he's the only kid I've got. He means well, he does struggle and get going in circles, but he's good at heart.
So, God, if your reading this, give me a sign will ya? My heart? It says give him a couple weeks, but charge him rent and 'cab' fare. He's not hurting us by staying, he isn't going nuts or being lazy, he sits and plays his guitar and sings for us, he helps out around the house. I have been hanging on to the anger for the past for too long, I need to release and move forward. He sees it in me, the anger, he feels it. And that doesn't help either of us.
Kids should come with life manuals.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
If kids came with Manuels I would need five of them because each one of mine have been raised the same, but boy each one is different,,, I have an addict,, and then I have one that qualified for early college in the 11th grade,,, she will have her associates degree before she graduates from High school,, they were raised by the same parents, in the same home ,,,, go figure
There is no right or wrong answers when dealing with addiction,, it's what works best for your situation
