So, another holiday season and we didn't see our son. He decided to come up the end of January for his 25th birthday to spend a week at our house that he hasn't seen yet in a new state. He 'said' everything was going well. Now, not for nothing, I listen to my gut now, and I didn't think so.
Today I get a call and he is yet again in rehab and is doing 'just a week, then to nana's and then I'll spend a week with you guys and then I'll go into long term rehab'....ME: WHY would you put it off? HIM: to be able to spend my birthday with you guys.
So as I know he's still detoxing at this point and he let me know he's been using all summer/fall/winter.....I didn't want to get into 'planning' of anything. I requested he have his social worker call me asap as I want to talk to her. I will get a game plan going with HER instead.
And not for nothing, I'm dealing with a new boss at work who constantly is going nuts because is OXY pills haven't come in yet from the VA and when they don't he all of a sudden has to go to the nearest city 'on business' and he disappears from the office. The other day he was asking us if we knew of anyone he could score some heroin from....then says 'just kidding' which I KNEW he wasn't. I was SO angry with him. He is lazy, he looks like 10 miles of bad road and because of HIS laziness, he puts us all behind about 3 hours, which means we don't get out of work until VERY late. They know nothing about our sons' issues nor will I discuss it.
I'm just SO sick of this merry go round and I want OFF it now! WILL THIS EVER END? It's an epidemic!
I pray for us all every day and I'm not seeing ANY relief for any of us.

I am sorry. You have a ton on your plate.
good thing you have a nice home and good hubby to help carry the load....can you look for a new job? do the bosses know he is such a mess? Son----he is kind of same as before, which sucks, but isn't new...the boss? who needs the added stress???

Even in your anger, you are seeing things truthfully and without prejudice. He isn't the same boy you raised, "he is a man with a problem HE has to solve". You're coming from a place of love and you're standing your ground. Good on you!
I so relate to the anger and frustration. When I have a problem, I look for a solution and tackle it. I recognize that this is their problem and the solution lies with them, but I hate feeling so helpless. The only thing we can do is take care of ourselves and try to stay positive. We can't let this ruin our lives too. But it's a struggle and still I find myself wondering WHY?????
I can't imagine having my boss being addicted to Oxy, that's got to be rough.
I would like to wish you luck and I hope your son can manage to get clean and stay that way.
