So, as you know the ex-gf, who was my son's 'buddy' in his addiction and loads of bad water under the bridge, is now working at my work place.
Last night was the 1st shift together. I have to do a walk around to do a role call. She is in a spot where I have to walk by repeatedly during my own shift. So one of the other managers knows the story, did the walk with me, which is common that we get together and touch base with all our employees coming on shift.
So, the other associate training her, introduced us and I just said, 'hello', with my best steely eye manager look. It felt good as her expression was 'worry' and not knowing WHAT to expect from me.
During the evening, I had to come across her quite often...and at the end of the night, I run security check at the door as they all go to their cars, and as she went by me, she couldn't get to her car fast enough...LOL...
Her body language and her demeanor was one of disappointment and turned to apprehension. EXACTLY where I wanted her to go.
During her shift, we did notice someone come in, another girl, and they took off for the ladies room, they where in there for about 10 min. She could be 'bitching' about me, but then I realized that the girl is a 'known' user and supplier.....oh the webs we weave.
So, taking the advice of all of you wisdomly correct folks, LOL....I took the power back.....and it feels so empowering.
Knowing I have the backing of all my peers in the building that are on a 'need to know' basis is reassuring and feels good....
So YEAH me! And THANK YOU to you all who talked me through it, as usual...

And I did say that to someone too, that I wanted a 'chance' for my son and maybe she is looking for that as well, but she doesn't have to 'wish for a chance' as she doesn't have a record, my son made sure she didn't, he took the hit for her. BUT in hind sight, that was a good thing for him, a growing thing.
But only time will tell and I will be professional, but I will not let the guard down, that is all I can do at this point. If it is a malicious move, she will show her cards.
I wish her well...I hope she is sober and working on a fresh start....but being aware of her past, you should keep an eye out. You never want to be in the position that to avoid a lawsuit YOU would have to be fired too...
ANYWAY, onwards and upwards.

I worked a full day shift and was acting store manager, running the floor. As we did the morning rally before opening, she was there, I did my 'thing' and went over the days focuses etc...at the end, I introduced her to the rest of the store and where she would be working, and if someone sees her struggling to please lend a hand....another manager that was there and knows everything going on, pulled me aside and said 'wow, if you could've seen her face after you looked away, she looked shocked and I'm happy that you're taking the high road on this one, we all have your back'....it made me feel good.
THEN, I went out for lunch, I opened up and had a front parking space, three cars down, I noticed her sitting in her car, as I pulled away, I saw her turn totally around and staring at me. Whatever....so I come back and her spot was empty, but her car was now in the spot I had just come out of...LOL....I laughed my butt off thinking 'wow, how seriously childish is that?'....I just laughed....it was way too funny.
I have alerted our head of security when I found out she was there, he knows the whole story and connections of others that seem to be 'applying' for jobs as well.
And the other managers are aware as well, it is like a big family, I'm fortunate to know that the majority have my back, although the one who hired her, I'm questioning. I still think this person knew, and someone else made the same comment. So I will just move forward but watch my back......
