dontwannafeelthisway: It is hard when you are in a relationship like that. My AH has a family history of alcoholism on both sides of his family, plus, he was already one when I met him, but sadly didn't realize it until we had been married. They always push the blame on someone else for their drinking because they don't want to face that it is their problem, because they cannot face what they don't want to change. I know the numbness all too well. I have gone through it on numerous occasions over the years. It never was and never will be your fault for his choices that he makes in life. You cannot change him or his drinking. All you can do is focus on changing you and how you handle the situation. Don't engage in arguments and don't get defensive, it will only fuel the fire. Love yourself and seek therapy to help you through this time and to better understand what you are living with. My best wishes to you all.
