For the moment, he is sorry - he's in rehab. When he gets out that's a different story. My advice is to live your life as though he isn't coming back. I know that is hard to hear, but addiction is a life long struggle and if you choose to stay, remember.. History is the best predictor of the future.
Good Luck and God Bless.
My stbx husband was addicted to alcohol, videogaming, porn and sex. Alanon is so right on when they say living with an alcoholic is TOO MUCH for most of us to handle. Our lives become unmanageable!! Yes he cheated and many times...including when not using.
His sex addiction was much more terrifying than the alcohol. There were several affairs that i found out after the fact. He admitted to his first during our first year of marriage while in inpatient treatment for a drug overdose. I chose to forgive him at that time because I thought he was on his way to working at his recovery. That lasted all of 6 months that he worked his program and was "dry" (from the booze) for a few years. He substituted the alcohol (and was miserable) with sex and porn. i found out later when I went through the home computer, shocked at what i found. That was it for me and then discovered yet another affair in which he got another woman pregnant.
Yes, they ARE different people when they focus on themselves and WORK their program. Just like I am different when I work on mine :)
I wish you the best, but take care of you. There are no guarantees here with his recovery. imnot trying to be pessimistic, but its reality..mgs is right..you have to learn how to live life without him....
