It's so easy to get caught up in an addict's drama and as you know, the results are always the same - we're the ones that get used, abused, crapped on, forgotten and discarded like garbage - but you do have power and control to limit your involvement. It's what I had to do, what we all have to do to survive. I pray you'll be able to find safe ground so you can walk calmly through it. ~~hugs across the miles~~
Yes you know you can't change them
He admitted that he is smocking joints and that he is taking opiates in pill form, the same ones the g/f takes. He also admitted that the so called uncle who has been paying rent/utilities/what have you is not a relative but someone she met years ago in the dealing street.
He has terrible lows. He was crying saying that he is unworthy of life. He was shouting at my mother that she and my father are complete idiots. He made a huge scene because my mom didn't wake him up. He demands money. My father overheard him talking to that woman, saying that he is going to take care of the rent. Shouting at her for leaving the child all alone while shes out [doing whatever she does]. My father told him off, he called him a junky and asked for the keys of the house to be returned. My poor mom is trying to hold on. Nerves of steel.
We looked for a nearby hospital he could get his methadone from, so that the doesnt have to go down town every day. Nada.
I know detachment is the answer. I having a hard time practicing it. Its been so long I am experiencing physical pain right now. Worried sick about my parents. This can't go on.
It's so hard when family get's involved I was so close to my sister she was part of my support system and a confidont but no more. I hope you can stay strong, try and help your parent's be strong that's all we can do. I'll be thiking of you and praying especially for that little one.
Hugs
Pat
Back at the ranch, things seem to be smoother. That's on the surface, of course. My parents have been out of town for the past 3 days to take care of things left unfinished at the country house and are coming back today. I haven't seen or heard from my brother but I know he is alive, goes to the methadone clinic [I hope] and sleeps at home.
I'm taking it one step at a time cause there's nothing else I can do. Sometimes, I get this intense feeling of "I want this over with already", but I try to keep it together.
It's Easter time here. Today is Good Friday, the saddest day of the week. But, in this fairy tale our religion is, I am filled with thankfulness for the day after and hope we get to witness Christs resurrection in the clear eyes of my brother.
