Debala... It's nice to know that someone else agrees with me. All this rubbish about they can't stop, blah blah blah. Who was it that put the drugs in them in the 1st place. We all make choices everyday. " Snort the coke or not snort the coke?" Gee what shall I do? Some harder than others. It's become hard for me to extend my sympathies to all the poor addicts struggling while the rest of us are forced to function in society and deal with all their aftermath! No matter how hard I try to wrap my head around it, I JUST can't seem to bye...It's a disease. Like you said, cancer's a disease. You don't go out one night and say, I think I'll get cancer today, or not?! Well, those are my thoughts up to this point. Thanks for caring enough to respond. It really is nice to know not everyone 'Feels sorry for" their addicts.

In the beginning of my relationship with my husband, he drank a lot and I always thought it was that he left his family over in Czechslovakia. But over the years and while I was raising my 5 children, he was angry and abusive to us and I spent many a night in the car sleeping with the kids until he sobbered. I felt that I didn't want my children to live on the streets, but that's how mixed up I was and I let them be there anyway. Now they're grown and say they hold no hard feelings for what happened to them, but I have 3 boys that drink and my daughter moved up north to be away from us. My living with him has become so hard on me. I go to Al-Anon meetings now and I don't know whether to let him go overseas to work until he retires or make him stay here with me. Overseas he cannot drink and I need the peace and quiet because of the stress making my diabetes worse. I have to be on a very healthy diet and he is always insisting on eating sweets and starchy foods in front of me. I need help with this matter soon before they requisition him for work overseas. Sorry for rambling on, but I don't know which way to turn. Hugs, MaryAnneF

Mary, let him go. Let the God of your understanding do for you, what you are not able to do for yourself. Your health and peace of mind should be the most important issue in your life. You cannot help an addict who does not want help. You need to be selfish about your life. Girl, you only have one life and no one and nothing is worth your life. Stay, strong, Hugs and kisses.

MaryannF...The last thing you wrote on here is that you don't don't what to do. That's NOT true. Yes you do. Weigh out your options...Stay in a relationship that is unhealthy, unfulfilling and basically out right wrong or find peace in your heart and enjoy a healthy, fulfilled life that God intended for you. You know the answers, now it's your turn to make your choice. And that's what it all comes down to, YOUR CHOICE. No one will fault you for staying except for you. So I wish you peace in your decision.

i dont know how you all have handled the drugs addicts in your life but i for one do not put pity in them. i do however support them just like i would any other friend or family member in need. this does not mean i pay for thier drugs or give them money. just emotional support.

Amen sister! i feel bad for the addicts that are serious about getting help and actually do, however it seems there arent many out there. (including my husband who is back on drugs for the 3rd time) i get soooo tired of "woe is me, im the victom, drugs are all i know" bull crap!! they ruin our lifes and cant even take the responsibility for it! wow, venting does feel good. lol

I am just so sick and tired of the boo hoo I'm an addict. When did drinking an entire bottle of booze become something you had to do. You can stop. Addiction is a problem. But the only way to stop it is to man up. Stop being such a bleeping baby. Grow the hell up. When I was 13 I told my father to grow the hell up. That am a child and want to be one, you be the adult for a change. He has no pity from me. I have been at the anger stage for awhile. At times I want to forgive and move on but mostly I want him to buzz of. I'm sorry but he's hurt me too much.

Larigirl... No apologies needed! Vent away! The mess they leave behind is rediculous and we "NEED" to dump the crap they left us with somewhere! For as long as I live, I will never understand WHY someone continues to ruin their lives along with all those who love them. Like I said before(Here's my vent) Disease My Ass! I don't buy it! A disease is something you get without choice...you don't choose to get cancer do you? I think our society makes far too many excuses for why an addict is in fact the title of 'An Addict' We should call it what it is... A Lack of Coping Skills to Everyday Life...Figure it out like the rest of us! Damn cop outs! I, too am in a very angry place but I feel a good one. No longer will I play into the 'Awwww, poor victum they are....' I became a victum because I loved someone who loved the drug more!' So no more pity parties for them, it's time for me to break free from their viscious cycle of chaos! I want and DESERVE peace!
