8 days till rehab

Only 8 days left. I'm happy and sad about Mack going to rehab. He needs to go. He needs to learn what "recovery" is. Just because he's not using, it doesn't mean he's in "recovery". But at the same time, I'm going to miss him. We have our ups and downs, but we have both been actively working on our issues. I do love that man. I've seen a lot of behavioral changes in him since his last relapse. He's not nearly as selfish as he was. He seems more humble now. Definitely happier. We have spent almost every weekend with his old friends from high school. Non-addicts. It's nice to actually be able to go out with friends and live again. Laugh again. Normal family activities. And this past weekend, Mack was truly amazing to me and all of my girls. My daughters' father tried to kill himself. Mack took care of all of us. He cooked and cleaned and talked and listened. He seriously waited on us. I would have been lost if he wasn't there. So yes, my man needs to go to rehab and he will go. If he doesn't, he leaves my home. But at the same time, I'm going miss him.

The good days are starting to outweigh the bad days.

I'm glad for you....I know there's still a super long way to go but I know the feeling of the place you're in right now. It's bittersweet.

I know it feels good but keep your guard up or at least let it down very slowly.

I hope Mack does well in rehab and learns what he needs to learn to get back to everyday life as a sober and clean man.

One day at a time,,, truly with recovery they do need relaspses brings them that much closer to wanting to stay clean,,, just remember this is his recovery,,, support it 110%,,, but don't interrupt it,,, allow this time to let go if the bondage of the past,,, and reflect on positive changes in your life

what an excellent start and im glad he was there for you and your girls when you needed him most. I love your last sentence the good days are outnumbering the bad !

I don't understand why you feel his going to rehab is going to make a big difference. He has been clean for several weeks it will take time for his brain to recovery from drug use. Recovery is different for each person. Most people quit on their own and never go back. The main thing that was stressed when ah went to rehabilitate is there will be a pink cloud period once home but if other problems with relationship aren't solve nothing will change.

I don't feel that rehab is going to make a big difference. But this is the agreement that we had. When we made this agreement, neither of us had any idea that it would take so long for him to get a bed. I can't back down from this. I won't back down. He either goes to rehab or he leaves my home. That is what we agreed upon. If he does not enter rehab on his scheduled day he loses all of his benefits. This program he was accepted in to is a gift. He was very fortunate to be offered this opportunity. I do think the counseling will be good for him. And his 28 days will give me a much needed break. I have a lot to think about while he's in there. I have a lot of pain and anger I need to work through. This will be a good begining for me. But other than that, I am in no way expecting miracles.
