Baby steps...lets hope he gets it right this time!
My daughter can't ever stay away from the father of her child........& they are just toxic together. God works in mysterious ways, but if they ever manage to get clean together, it will be a true miracle. I wish she would just focus on herself, as I know you wish your son would do.......but their emotional issues that tie them to other addicts is a very huge part of their problem, & I think one of the biggest keys in recovery.....
I hope this is the time it really sticks for your son!!!
rehaps are for those that wanted,,, not need it,,, keep looking forward,,
love ya!
He does realize he can NOT go back to this GF and has told me he has no plans to see her again that he KNOWS that is a big part of his issue. That he has to go this one alone.
He called last night, sounds good, has declined ANY drugs during detox to make it 'easier' to get through, said he needs to feel the pain. BUT he also said yesterday he felt better and was going to 'check himself out', then decided not to.
Here's the kicker, they are talking about a 6 month in patient program, which he was 'thinking' about. His words? "That's a long time".....My reply? "you spent 5 years being an addict, 6 months to get on the road to recovery isn't much is it?"....he seemed to REALLY hear that....he met with his social worker right after and they are trying to work on getting him in that program.
I'm praying to GOD that they find him a spot and get him there asap.
Hubby didn't want to talk to him last night, I asked why and he said 'same old song and dance, and he only calls when he's in detox'....I told him I will talk to him EVERY time he calls because it shows SUPPORT! And that we should be thankful we HAVE the chance to talk to him, show him the support and it isn't much to listen and let him know we love him!
Thank you for all your prayers. I pray for us all!
