I think it is normal. We were told that this would happen during the third week of chemo/radiation. Fortunately, it wasn't too bad for my husband. You should definitely let the oncologist know of any symptoms. I hope your husband feels better soon.

It may be perfectly normal, but I would still let the oncologist know. I can't compare Stan's situation because he had radiation at the same time he had chemo. The radiation definitely made it more difficult and painful to swallow initially.

Stan's oncologist always returned phone calls or emails as did his other doctor's A good line of communication is crucial.

I hope his ability to eat improves and wish the best for both of you.

My sister took chemo/radiation together. Near the end of her treatment, she couldn't even swallow water due to pain. However, she was able to get fluids through her port to avoid dehydration. Thinking about you....

Given that your husband is undergoing radiation, my guess is that his swallowing difficulties are temporary and entirely normal. It may even be an indication that the primary tumor is responding to the chemo. But I'd definitely let your oncologist know--heck, this is what he's being paid for!

I'm actually not seeing where u say your husband is receiving radiation, but if he is, I would not be surprised about the painful swallowing, as I had that too from radiation. In any case only chemo or chemo/radiation - discuss with his Drs. They need to know any symptoms that come up & will try to help with his discomfort. I could not get much relief at all, but in time I had the surgery to remove most of my esophagus & was glad to have it for the relief.
