I am a little reluctant to post this because I know many on this site have not had the favorable result I have had. However, I post to give hope to others in the same circumstance I found myself in. Today is exactly 5 years since they cut that nasty stuff out of me. It has not returned. I had a 3cm adenocarcinoma which had spread to one lymph node. Unfortunately, the affected node was not directly contiguous to the tumor. So even though the spread was a matter of millimeters, it was considered a distant metastasis...and I was automatically Stage4. I had almost 4 months of chemotherapy(before and after the surgery), 6 weeks of radiation and 2 surgeries. I was either in treatment or recovering from treatment for 13 months. I made it and I feel fine and live a normal life. Please, please don't abandon hope notwithstanding what docs and others tell you. I had an 11% chance to live one year...and here I am.....best to everyone....ML.
