hi i am now dealing with seizures in my sleep all the time now and they take some getting used to i allways bite my lip before i had surgery for epilepsy 4 years ago i never had any in my sleep.my surgery worked for a year then i witnessed a bad accident and i started having seizures again but a different kind and at night i havent got used to them yet

These seizures started a few years ago but over the past year they seem to be happening more often. I had brain surgery at 12 and got seizures from that. Those went away but the seizures came back in another part of my brain and now only happen at night. I an scared because they are happening more often and I don't know how to deal with it. It is scaring me. I am not used to seizures happening so often... its been less than 5 months sense my last one... usually they are much more spread out. It is scary.

hi nightskye. i have had epilepsy for years but it took a long time to diagnose. my seizures started in my sleep when iwas in my 20's and i lived alone so i wasnt aware what was happening,... i would awake with my tongue bit up and marks all over my body from hitting the wall,and falls out of the bed, It wasnt until i started sleeping with someone and he witnessed what was goin on with me and even then he didnt want to tell me because i was very emotional back then also in denial...one day we woke up he showed me his finger which i had bitten the night before and with that he told me to see a NEUROLOGIST. SO I DID. i was eventually given an EEG AND A OVERNIGHT SLEEP STUDY WHICH REVEALED I HAD BEEN HAVING SEIZURE ACTIVITY. AND THEN I WAS PLACED ON MEDICATION TO CONTROL THE SEIZURES. SO IF YOU HAVENT BEEN TO THE DR. CALL ONE OR GO THE ER. ITS IMPORTANT TO GO AFTER ONE OF YOUR EPISODES AT NIGHT SO THEY CAN SEE EVIDENCE OF YOUR SEIZURES AND TAKE PROPER PRECAUTIONS TO GETTING YOU HELP. GOOD LUCK AND FEEL BETTER

Thanks. Wow that's an interesting story about how you discovered your epilepsy. I have had seizures for years, basically sense brain surgery. Started in 1 part of the brain after surgery, went away, came back in another part. I do see a doctor. I have called her and she has upped my meds. Thanks for the advice.

Are you keeping a journal? Clik on green words for more Info. Suggestion: if you Think you are having Nite episodes, chek yard sales &/or thrift stores for a baby monitor w/ video. Or install a Spy Cam. You can purchase a small cheap tv for review or review on an existing tv if equipped w/ adapters???. :) Or if someone is witnessing it have a Camcorder/cell phone w/ video, charged & ready. :)

Me, Sis & my daughter have dealt w/ Nocturnal Seizures most of our lives. Warm salt water rinse for your tongue. Anti-biotic cream for the scratches. Supervised Epsom Salt Bath for sore muscles. Or a heating pad. :) REST! Till you feel better!

I do Hope the Increase in your meds works. Keep in mind Proper Nutrition will Help meds work more efficiently w/ fewer side effects. :) Keep Learning about Epilepsy & all it's aspects. Including Treatments & 'alternatives'.

Thank you Candi. The advice of recording them is a good idea. I am in the process of setting up an EEG with my doctor and they will be recording it then, so hopefully the doctors can get a better idea of what is going on.

Thank you for the medical advice. I do not have seizures when I am awake (thank god, those were even more scary than the nocturnal ones), so I do not have to worry about seizing in the bath.

I hope the change in the meds does help. So far, it has been. I do not actually have epilepsy but I do have these seizures that were originally caused by the brain surgery, those went away and I got new ones in a new part of my brain. Thank you for your support.

2 or more seizures = Epilepsy. AKA Seizure Disorders. The Term Seizure Disorders is New as is a lot of other terms. As I am sure you are aware. Let us know what EEG results are. HUGS!

Thanks, I did not know that 2 or more seizures was epilepsy. I have never heard that before. Thanks for the info. I will let you know what the results are of the EEG, and I will give this med increase a chance.
