scans are normal????

So I am positive that I am having seizures and yet none are coming up on the different scans I have had done! Who should I contact???? I live in Montana in the middle of no where! I cant go to just anyone!

Two things you Can do! Start keeping a journal. (clik on green words for more info) Keep a video recording device charged & available at all times. Ask someone to film you as they are timing your seizure. Or option 3: If no one is there to record you, set up some 'spy' cams or baby monitors w/ Video to capture a few. Show That to the next Doc. :)

Have you had a 24-72 hr Portable EEG? Or a Video EEG in the hospital?

Contact the Epilepsy Foundation online & see if there is an organization near you &/or if they can assist in any way.

Epilepsytalk.com has a list of DRS all over the States, recommended by people w/ Epilepsy. See if there is a Dr listed in Your area. :)

Don't worry about your 'negative' scans. I have been diagnosed for 35 yrs & Not 1 of my scans has shown activity, yet. But, my History says it all so screw them tests! They cannot catch activity if it ain't there. And it never fails. When at the DRS I am Fine. When I get home. Within in a day or 2, Wham. Sick or Seizing. :(

Don't you hate it when that happens candi? You can have a whole handful of seiz. while at home and then you go for a few tests and NOT ONE!!! lol.
Both times this last yr. when I went and had my week long video EEGs I didn't feel like I had any big seiz., but it turned out that I was having a lot more than I thought.
hotwheelz, what type of test did you have done. A lot of times when people have just a regular EEG that last for a small amount of time, it doesn't even show up. That's why doing a week long video EEG is so much helpful.

I have only had a a MRI so far. it is very complaticated because I just had surgery on my brain for my shunt!

Hello Hot,

A Clear MRI is a Good thing! That means there are no lesions, scar tissue, cysts or tumors creating problems. MRI's do not detect seizures! Only possible 'causes'. Doesn't/didn't your DR or tech explain that? :(

Again, IF you suspect you are having seizures then install some spy cameras in your house & maybe 1 or 2 outside if you can.
