My epilepsy

I’ve only recently been diagnosed with epilepsy in the last few months and I’m 17. I’ve been having full blown seizures for the past 3 years. And I’ve been taking Keppra for the past couple of months but I think it’s making me crazy. I get extreme anxiety, have dreams that feel real or just get really angry and I’ve never had massive issues with this before. Has anyone else been effected in this way?

Hi, I have a Seizure Disorder with Grand Mal Seizures and Tactile Amnesiac Dreamstate Seizures at night (a weird combo of seizures and amnesiac sleepwalking) I take Topomax and Tegretol and have for most of the 13 years since I've been diagnosed. In the very beginning I used Depakote, but it didn't work well with some other meds I was on.

If your meds don't seem to be agreeing with you, you might make an appt with your Neuro and talk to him about the side effects they're causing you. Its not like there are a shortage of Anti-Seizure meds,

I had the same problem with Keppra it would make me more angry like throughout the day doing normal daily activities like shopping . And also made seizures more violent . Hope you find something that works better for you.

Hello I've had seizures for 29 years and I'm 36. I have tried so many different types of drugs. I'm on keppra lamictal and vimpat. The vimpat has terrible side effects which I've learned to overcome because the medicine works so well. I didn't want my doctor to take me off it. Speak with your doctor about finding solutions as I have found with vimpat. Most doctors will always retreat to tegretol. It's a great anti seizure drug. I was on it for 17 years. I had top stop it cause my body became immune to it. Also I've lost a lot of hair. Tegretol has little to no side effects. I believe that's why neurologist favor it. Good luck
