can forceps cause seizures? because i have them but its not genetically linked and they cant think of any other reason for me having them. i was born 2 weeks late so they had to pull me out by the head with forceps. so, yeh.

Thats kinda interesting because i went to see my doctor today about my EEG and he said that he saw firings of abnormal activity from my right front temperal lobe and he thinks that although nothing showed on my MRI he thinks there may be a tiny little damage from having a slightly "traumatic birth" (i was breech, c-section, chord round my neck bla bla) and then having meningitus when i was 5 and having a convulsion then. so i guess its possible that if a part of ur brain was damamged with the forceps it could cause epilepsy...

I would imagine that if it caused injury to your brain then it could quite possibly be the cause, but that would show up on an MRI I think.

i dont think ive had an MRI and i cant member if my EEG was normal or not .-. idk when i go and see my doctor ill ask her how my EEG was

When I was a little kid my mom had talked to me about the use of forceps at the hospital where I was born at. There is a strong possibility that use of forceps, can be one out of many factors that can cause impired mental development of a baby later on in life, and seizures If you look at my pic closely, you can see that the top of my forehead is very pointy, this is due to the use of forceps. I don't know wither all hospitals do this, but the use of video cameras had been banned during pregnancy, if the video can be used as edvidence, if a birth injury is discovered, which can be used against the hospital.

yeh.......but i dont think my parents filmed my birth. but when i go and see my doctor here soon imma ask her whether or not they can. cause ive heard tht they can cause them when they put preasure on a part of the skull or crush a part of the skull slightly cause its still so soft.

My epilepsy(TLE) has always been considered idiopathic. No one knows why I have it even though my father is epileptic, and I was a difficult birth and forceps were used.

Personally, I don't blame my father, and wonder about the forceps. I was a tomboy and hit my head a LOT playing.

Rhonda, I really have to wonder about the forceps causing your head to be pointy. My daughter's head was pointy from the suction cup they used to pulled her out(no more forceps). But because a babies skull is still not fully formed, the bones grew into a normal shape. We just all have differently shaped skulls :)
