what do you feel as head pressure? In other words, what do you mean by head pressure?

It kind of feels like a knife cutting through part of my head, but it's not painful. It's a weird sensation. Or it will feel like my head is in a vise in a certain spot and then move splowly in a straight line toward the back of my head. It's usually at the right back side, but it has been in other areas as well.

I get the same thing, but it's not everyday. It's mostly in the right side also. I often wonder about it too..... I've never had a cat scan or MRI before. Been thinking about getting one though.... It irritates me when it does happen. I've never asked my doctor about it. I suppose I should have. I've always thought that it was just a bout of neurons shooting off at once.

Mine does hurt though. That's difference with mine though. And it's usually in one spot.

I would get an MRI, from what I'm finding with asking others, it's not normal. so I don't know. My pcp said it could be part of a migraine, but it happens when I don't have headaches so that doesn't make sense to me. I don't know, I guess I'll find out if they ever get around to calling me to schedule it. I've called like three times and said it's been two weeks since I was told they were going to call and still no call. So frusterating!

Keep bugging them about the MRI. Make an appointment with your neurologist & tell the Dr. you need the MRI test NOW. They can push it through faster. Tell him you want all the test you can get & you need them NOW. The more you know & the Dr. knows, the better & faster treatment can be.

Well migraines are different from headaches and I've looked at a chart of a migraine headache and where mine occur, they're always at the top of my head. Mine feel more like a knife lol I'm not sure I'd be able to do that right now... I'm going to be moving in a month or so and I don't know how long it would take for the hospital to do everything

I finally got my MRI scheduled for tomorrow! I feel so much better. If the techs see anything serious, they will call my doc emmedietly. The head pressure is happening more and more often now. When it happens, there is no pain, but my head becomes feeling heavy and kind of rolls back for a second and then I'm tired. Or I'll massage the area to get it to go away sooner, but it still comes back over time. I just want to know if it's normal or not, headache or not, seizure or not. I just want to know what it is! Once and for all. Thanks for all the answers and support. I have been worried about what all is happening and some of the stories scare me, but I agree, the sooner the treatment the better, I hate waiting.

I have absence seizures (psychic seizures ) and sometimes feel like i'm carrying a 100lb bowling ball on my neck. i usually get this when i've had sugar or caffiene.

It sounds kind of like a simple or complex seiz. It is something you definately want to get checked out. I had epilepsy for over 35 yrs. and had to deal with that stuff all the time, however, I have just had a temporal lobectomy 16 days ago and have not had any seiz. since then. I haven't felt this good for as long as I can remember. Be careful and get it checked out. good luck.

Thanks, I'm just learning the differences between seizures and how they feel. I can't wait till my followup about the MRI. But I will say, I really don't want to ever do that again. I came home with a HUGE headache and felt nausious all night. It was not fun. I did get a copy so I spent the night just looking at my brain praying it will give the doctors answers as to what it wrong with me. I was wondering if the head pressure was the actual seizure? The only way to describe it is with the knife like I said before or it feels like there is a big suction cup on the back of my head trying to suck my brain out of my skull, but it doesn't hurt persay. It doesn't feel good at all, and my head gets heavy and I get super tired, but it's not like crying in pain painful, if that makes sense. It used to only happen every once in a while, but this past week or two it's been happening everyday several times. it's starting to trigger headaches because I'm getting tired of the back to back ones or ones that last a long time, several minutes. But I'm still able to function normal. Like I'm experienceing it now as I type. So I just don't know if it's the seizure or headpressure from something else in my brain that's wrong, like a tumor or lesion. I guess I'll find out when I see the doc in a few weeks.

I have seizures now,but before they started, I was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari.This is a birth defect,but causes severe headaches,aka pressure headaches.The reason for this is that the skull is too small for the brain,and therefor does not allow the spinal fluid to enter and escape the brain properly. The MRI you are having will determine if you have this.Mine showed low lying cerebbellar tonsils. There is a support group on Daily Strength for Arnold Chiari,there is alot of info on there. Thanks, I won't know the results for 2 more weeks. I personally didn't see anything alarming, but I'm not a doc. So we'll see. I just hope it can give me more answers as to why I am soooo sick all the time.

I can't wait until you get your MRI back. Not in a bad way lol But because I get the same things, so in a way it might give me a bit of a look into what I might have as a problem. I had an eeg awhile back in april and it was normal, but i was still having spikes. So for all I know the head pressures could be a seizure and I not know it, or the part of my brain where the seizures occur. Or just a simple migraine.
