Brain Abnormalties?

When we saw my childs dr in the hospital he said the reason my son is having seizures is because he has abnormalties on both sides of his brain. Does anyone know what this means?

This means your son has abnoral brain on both sides like I have,
he cannot get an brain operation most likely only be on medication and VNS stimulator pacemaker the rest of his life to stay live and be stabized means maybe no cure.

has he actually said what the abnormalities are?, not all abnormatities cause seizures

The dr said it's the abnormalties causing the seizures.

Oh OK I do think it would be a goof idea to ask dr what the abnormalities are , as lots of diff things can cause siezures and to make sure you get the right treatment for your son

My doctor first called my childs EEG results as him having brain abnormalities. What he said it means is that there is spiking going on during the EEG which shows that he had epilepsy. It sounded so awful at first but that is what he said it means. Hang tough. My son had many abnormal EEGs and many increases in medication but for the first time in two years, he had a normal EEG and has been seizure free for 1 year. The down side is that he just had an MRI and it showed his brain has not grown as much as it should have. He believes it is because of the medication but he needs that so what do you do. I had no idea that anti-seizure medication could do that. Its something to be aware of. He has a learning disability which I heard also can be common with epilepsy. Take care
