Hi, I've done a couple of searches and found these for you. I've never actually read a book as search, just the odd leaflet so haven't any recommendations. I hope the above help though. All the best.
For future episodes: Proper Seizure First Aide Take a deep Breath & calm yourself! Think of the letters in the Word TRUST & follow these simple rules. T: Time: You Need to Time the seizure. (Episodes last 2-3 minutes, normally. Anything over 5 min, call the ER) R: Remove objects around him that may prove harmful (at nite blankets & pillows) U: Undo constrictive clothing S: Stay w/ the person till seizure subsides. T: Turn on side (so they do not choke on excess fluids or vomit) During the seizure it Helps if you talk calmly to them. Do not let others' interfere w/ what you are doing.
Be sure he is taking his meds Same Time Everyday. A pill organizer can be a Plus to you & Him! Plus, Start a Daily Journal for him. If you have a cell phone there are apps you can use. Note When, Where, How Much & What! Include Foods/bevs, activities, tv/comp time, sleep patterns & Stress. Always describe any unusual Activity/episode you note. This will determine Triggers & be a very useful tool for Hubby, You & Drs! Note any questions you have for the DR in the margins. Visit the DR w/ Him!
Continue to Love & Support him! Your Hubby is Not Alone & neither are You! Keep in mind, he feels Nothing during a seizure & the aftermath is always worse than the seizure itself. Soreness, chewed tongue, tired, confused is different for each of us & can be different after each episode. If you follow my advice, you will be OK. So will Hubby. He is Still a 'normal' person. He has a Disorder & w/ Time you can/will Adjust! My Hubby adjusted to mine very quickly. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last mth. :) Hugs!
