Guess I should have read this post First. :) I'm Glad your Neuro took you Off the Lamictal. Yes, talk w/ your Pharmacy about disposal of your meds. More than Likely you Will have to Eat the Money. But, they May give you a discount on the next med. Ya never Know Until you Ask! :) So, what New Med is your DR prescribing?

Yeah, I got rid of them, I'll need to remember to ask next time if they can do discounts when things like that happen. He said to just stay on the Keppra for right now. I'm so frusterated, that I'm probably need to go see my pcp about seeing a different neuro. I'm fine on the Keprra. But I'm just irritated, my arms still look the same, and I did more research: lamictal is in the same family as Depakote (the very first drug they put me on, I was on it for a week and had GI bleeding so they took me off that and put me on Keppra) you would think that since someone already reacted to a med that they would react to another med in the same med family. Seriously, it's common sense. Thank you so much for your support, It really helps to know that I am not alone. The only thing that bugs is that Keppra messes with your emotions, so I tend to feel more adgitated. So I have to be careful as to what I let bother me.

Simple Solution: Add B6 to your vitamin Regimen. Lots of people experience 'mood swings' (agitation, anger from no where, etc.) while on Keppra & B6 has worked for them. :)

Thanks! I am taking B12 with it, and a B-complex. I only take them with my night dose, but am thinking of taking it with my morning dose as well. I just have to keep myself in check. I have three kids, so it's hard sometimes to deal with the mood. but they know kind of what I'm going through, so they try to calm all the chaos if I start feeling overwhelmed.

B12 & B Complex don't seem to be working for you. Switch to Just B6. :) I knwo it's rough. Especially w/ kids. My Son was very understanding about my 'mood swings' also. I never even realized it Was my Med doing this to me. Just thought it was from not enough Proper sleep. :( They were so infrequent I didn't think much about it. Then, after, 20 yrs on Pheno's I blew up at work. I had been working w/out a break for 5 hrs. My Manager pissed me of & I started screaming. I couldn't hear myself but could feel it in my vocal cords. It lasted a Few minutes. Needless to say I was Fired the next morning. And that day while reading the EFA.org site I found a News Flash. New Studies determined Pheno's caused 'Mood swings'. I tried to get the store's HR & the unemployment Judge to consider this. But, Nope. I was 'Insubordinate' & no longer Welcome to work at the store or receive unemployment benefits. :( It was the First Job that had lasted longer than 6 mths since seizures Started. 14 mths & really loving my job. :( Now, I can't even get the Cancer Society to let me work as a Volunteer. :(

wow, I am so sorry. That is scary! Yeah, I read everything before I started the med, so I knew going into it. My oldest is old enough to understand, so I explained it to her and she has so far been forgiving, but my younger too don't have any idea as to what is wrong with me. I make sure to keep my mouth shut around my husband and he notices and keeps asking me what's wrong, but I am aware and know if I say anything, I will end up blowing it way out of proportion. I just find I over react to certain things and if my kids get chaotic at all, I have to leave the room for a while, or I feel like I will go bulistic. I hope you do find releif from it. I'm sorry you lost a job over it, I wish people would be more understanding to stuff like this.

I know what you mean. :) The whole World is soo full of 'Ignorant' people. People who don't understand & are Unwilling to Learn more about Epilepsy & all it's aspects, including treatments. But, there are Groups on Facebook who are Trying to get the word out to All! One Group page has started an event that I really Like. 50 concerts in 50 States to help raise funds for Research & help spread the word. So far, almost 40 States have organized Music 'events' for March 26. Epilepsy Awareness Day. :)

Yeh, Hubby Rarely hears my Rants & like you I try to keep my mouth shut around him. :) My Pooor Son heard a Lot, though. Funny, (B4 I knew about this side effect) one day I had a 'Fit' & started screaming at my son. Hubby was working 2 blocks away from the house & came in for Lunch & informed me the Whole Shop had heard me ranting. ( I didn't realize the windows were open or that I was ranting sooo Loud. :) ) I was soo embarrassed. More so than screaming at my manager w/ customers in the store. She Deserved my Wrath!

But, all's OK now. I have learned, like you, to walk away & calm Down!

As for the Job, well, that is OK, too. I now have Time for my Support Group Families on-line. I am Still 'Paying it Forward' to all the people who helped me embark on my Journey to Learn More about Epilepsy & treatments & share w/ those who are searching for answers.

Thanks!!! I'm so sorry about all that. I would be embarrassed too! I'm seeing my neuro soon, because I still have not been able to sleep through the night! I'm getting very irritated. And I'm not tired enough to take a nap during the day, so I am feeling like a walking zombie literally,lol. I did want to tell you, I found something really interesting. Please let me know if you've heard anything about this. I'm planning on calling whoever it is and getting all the facts, if they take insurance, how does it work, if there is more than one location, how would one get started, costs, risk factors, ect. If this is truly what they are saying, This would help soooo many people!

I contacted them and read more about them. The only concerning thing, they don't take insurance. I'm not sure how much it costs yet. It's not just for epilepsy. They have offices around the US but the medical treatment center is in mexico, so I'm not sure what that means. I'll let you know when I find out more or let me know if you decide to check into them.
