So, it is three days before Christmas in 1998. I am living in a beautiful house with a huge kitchen and a dinning room/living room the size of a small basket ball court. I have twenty-five people coming for Christmas. I am going through my ingredients for the dinner. I find that I am missing a few things so I step outside to go across the street to my neighbor's house and ask if she has any extra. I get to the top step and have a seizure. I remember falling and seeing all of my weight land on the tip of my left thumb. I could swear I heard something snap. That was the only time I ever saw my neighbor's mother-in-law run. They help me into the house and I tell them I'm okay. Later my hand starts to hurt so I call and ask for something for pain. They bring over 800 mlg motrin. I take four of them. Then she decides that I need to go to the hospital. By this time, I have a little high going on. Yeah I know, right? lol
The doctor takes a look at it and orders x-rays. The doctor comes in and puts the x-ray up. I can see immediately that the bone right under my thumb nail is snapped in half. Figures.
I start laughing my butt off.
The doctor looks confused and says, "Jennifer, you see hear that you broke this bone." I continue to laugh. "Are you all right?" he asked.
I nodded and kept laughing.
"Jennifer, you do understand that you broke a bone."
"Yes" I choked out.
"Well, why are you laughing?"
"Because it's three days to Christmas and I don't have to do the dishes!"
You see, when you don't have a dishwasher this is the kind of thing you worry about.
I spent the next two days cooking and took great plessure in the fact that my husband and daughter had to do the dishes that year. Every one had a good time. It is one of my favorite memories. Partly because that doctor just looked so perplexed. Sometimes you just have to take life as it comes and try to make the best of it.

I tried breaking my fingers recently. Just kidding! I was just feeding my cats & the next thing I remember was me screaming as I jerked back my hand from the shelving unit. I figure that I must of had a myoclonic hand spasm trying to place down the cats bowl & I really cracked my fingers on the shelving unit hard. Just a sprain where the whole rest of the night I was freaking out my fiance & mom because my pinky finger kept popping out of the joint when I tried to bend it. Fun times!...Not!
Then the pain set in. The bandages scared my poor dog to death. He wouldn't come anywhere near me. Once the silvidine did it's work I had to take them off. I coudln't play on the computer or anything. Guess it's back to the kitchen for me.
