Keep in mind, everyone's body chemistry is different. Just because your husband is only taking 50 mg of topamax does not necessarily mean the dosage of carbatrol is too high for your son.
I have been attending support group meetings sponsored by the Epilepsy Foundation. You may want to check and see if there is one in your area you can attend. They are free of charge and you can get a lot of information from them. It's nice to talk to others and get ideas of what they have gone through or advice they may be able to offer.
