I got told by my GP that Zoladex will act as a contraceptive so will not need to take any whilst taking them!!!!! I have just read that whilst having zoladex injections you should be taking a contraceptive!!!
I have not been for the past 7 months.
What have you been told by your doc about zoladex and taking contraceptive!!!!!
I cant believe this........................

Is zoladex like lupron? I am about to start lupron injections and my doctor said to use some method of birth control for the first three weeks and that after that, I shouldn't be able to get pregnant. Now I am reading in the info that comes with the shot that I should be using birth control through out the six months I'll be on it.
I am a little confused by this.

I am not sure what lupron is used for but the Zoladex is to shut down your ovaries temporarily, 6 months for me.... I have endometriosis and they thought this would work!!!!!
I am very confused as I have been told different things by different docs... I now have to go to my gp tomoro to get my bloods done to measure my hormone level to make sure I am not pregnant.
I would do as much research as poss..... Hopefully I will get answers tomoro. x

I am also confuse as well. I came off zoladex last year May after doing a 6month course I was on it to stop the period hopefully ease the pain. Never knew it was use as a contraceptive! but!! I wonder how affective would it be seeing its only adminster on a 3/6month basic meaning you would proberly have to changing you pill. I would surly like to learn more about it. Read as much as you can about it because the drug is more regularly use to treat Cancer patients.

I was on Zoladex for four months but I was not told about contraception as we are trying for a baby. I don't think that you need to bother while you are on it from what I remember as it should stop your periods. Check with your doc if you are unsure but I'm confident that you don't need it.

Im on Zoladex at the moment but my consultant insisted that I get the mirena coil fitted before he would give me the Zoladex as he said you have to be sure you dont get pregnant

hi i have just had my forth shot of zoladex and have been taken off pill because i was bleeding more than usual but my doctor and consultant both stressed that getting pregnant could lead to either early miscarrage or a problem to the un born child so becareful when you go for your nxt injection ask for the patient imformation leaflet or look zoladex up online good luck x

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
