when IC symptoms hit?

Ok, so I just found out about the evil twin sister IC (Interstitial cystitis). Crazy enough I have had many of these symptoms for years. Question: if you have IC when do the symptoms come? Does it follow your period cycle at all?

Also, I sometimes get really cloudy urine. Hubby thinks that means it is a bacteria thing, but I don't know. I will probably go to the doc today (have some symptoms now) - but was curious: if you have IC do you get this too? Is it from IC or is that a sign of a real bacteria infection?

Ok, back from doc. My white blood cells are up so they prescribed an antibiotic. Ugh. I still don't know: could it be IC?

Mine seems to follow my cycle but not all the time.
Did they culture your urine? My white cells are always high but I never have an infection!

yes, they are culturing it. Glad to know that - when I was in undergrad, my doc always wanted to culture my urine before giving me drugs. I had dozens of UTI's and I was always upset that she made me wait.

If the culture came back negative, but I was still in pain she'd give me meds. :-)
Don't know if the IC symptoms just went away in 2 weeks or if the meds helped...

I have had IC for several years now. It really is different for everyone. But it is know to have food triggers, especially anything acidic (i.e. coffee) and caffeine in known trigger as well. I have read other woman saying thier period will trigger symtoms, and personally I think the cloudy urine is possibly from your IC (that happens to me also, but I never have an infection). I hope you find a medication or an alternative to medications that help, because IC flares can be horrible!
Oh if you are interested the IC network puts out a list of foods that are triggers, maybe foods and ok foods. Follwing an IC diet can be hard, but it has helped a lot of people! Here is the link: http://www.ic-network.com/diet/2012icnfoodlist.pdf

Do you have any websites that explain the endo diet, or is it just the antiinflammatory diet?
I hear ya about the bad genes, seems so unfair. I feel like I take care of my self, don't smoke, barley drink and I have had a lot of medical issues (more than just the endo unfortunalty). My sister on the other hand, doesn't take care of her self, smokes, drinks, has a really bad diet but doesn't have any of the issues I have. SO NOT FAIR!
