Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
My Finace talked to the doctor, but of course, he isn't that good about taking messages and the doctor was in a rush, so I didn't get much info. But what I do know:
1. I had a lot of endo removed.
2. there was a very large lesion that had grown around part of my intestine (though not on my intestines??)
3. there was a lot of endo on my bladder, and cul de sac. BUT I didn't need a resection or did he have to cut out parts of my bladder, but he did remove it!
4, Totally unexpected, but I had a large lesion up in the right side of my rib cage near my liver. I had been having pain in that area, but I thought it might be referred pain.
Overall my surgeon said to Phil, that he could see why I have been in so much pain and seems optimistic that surgery will help.
*Fingers Crossed!*
I feel eerily good tonight. Once the Benadryl wore off (long story short the anesthesiologist put tape on my eyes during surgery, which I am allergic to, which of course led to a reaction) I am doing well, though a little sore.
I know the 2nd day can be worse, so I am anticipating more pain tomorrow, and I am staying on top of my meds.
Also. My doctor only made incisions on one side of my stomach (3 total), so none incision pain on my right side. Makes a world of difference!
I am also glad I was able to/decided to take 5 weeks off from work because I have a heavy lifting restriction for a min. of 4 weeks.
As for watching the video just know you might have to rewatch it hehe. I watched mine the day after my last lap and the next day I could hardly remember it! I had my lap pretty late at night though so that might have contributed...I blame the drugs!
Seriously the incisions on one side really are amazing! Of course, I have internal pain from stuff being removed, but can't believe how nice it is to not have incision/muscular pain on the right side!
I plan on watching it again, probably next week I have a friend from my nursing class coming over next week and since we love all things medical she is going to watch it with me.
I still can't believe the size of the lesion that he took out from the cul de sac and REALLY can't believe the first surgeon missed it...
Plus I am not nearly as bloated as I was with the 1st surgery. My fianc made a comment about how much smaller my stomach swelling is in comparison to the 1st one...and I was 30 lbs lighter at the 1st surgery (stupid hormones).
I took 5 weeks because I had a hard recovery during my first surgery. Not because of pain, but bc what ever that surgeon did really messed with my GI issues, which were already really bad and I could barely leave my house (in fact I took a LOA from school and left my job).
The other part is that I don't have a desk job. I work in a rehab hospital and my job requires me to be able to lift/push/pull up 50-100 pounds for 75% of the shift. It is really physical, especially when I work on the spinal or stroke floor. On top of that there is a ton of walking involved. The hospital that I work at is new and though beautiful all the rooms are large and spread out. So walking a ton is unavoidable.
Everyone is different, so I just based it on my past experience and I would rather take took much time rather than not enough. Plus, now I know I have a lifting restriction for at least 4 weeks, it wouldn't even be possible to go back to work after 2 weeks.
Thank you! :-)
