Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I usually take 800mg of ibuprofen every few hours and it helps 90% of the time.
But to be honest the last couple of months I've taken a Tramadol that my husband has a prescription to. It works but I can only take one in the morning or I won't sleep at night, so I only use it when the pain is extreme and I take ibuprofen the rest of the day. It doesn't seem to make me feel "high" which I hate about most pain killers. And it seems to perk me up a bit at work so I can put on a good face. I'm planning on talking to my doctor about this next week.
I've also purchased these two products alled Cryoderm and Thermoderm, they are pretty strong "icy hot" like products, but way stronger and don't stink like geriatrics. I put the cryoderm (it chills) all over the back of my hips and lower back, I put the thermoderm (it heats) all over my lower stomach/pelvic area and it works miracles. It's like wearing an ice pack and a heating pad at work. I like the cold on my back better than hot, but that's just preference.
It's all I can do to not miss work.
Are you on any endo therapy to calm things down at all? I take aygestin (norethinodrone) and haven't had a real cycles since july of last year (I have stage 4 endo, with extremly painful periods) I did contious bc until I started the aygestin in oct. It doesn't cure all of my symptoms but certainly not having a period has solved a huge chunk of my pain.
feel better soon.
I've tried Tramadol, and I've heard that there is no gray area with this drug...it either works great or not at all. Unfortunately, I'm in the not at all category. It doesn't help my pain, but it gives me a pounding headache, makes me nauseous, makes me dizzy and gives me horrific hot flashes. I was really disappointed because I'd heard such great things, and my OB/GYN was really confident that it would help me...nope.
Heat is really the best thing when you don't have meds available. I will often lie on a hot heating pad and pop a hot water bottle between my legs and that helps everything to relax and makes it a little bit more bearable.
Hope your pain goes away soon!
