I think weather you get it on the 12 or 19 that much walking at Disney that soon after is likely to make you exhausted!! I really don't know how you will be 2 days post surgery to celebrate vday....I certainly didn't feel like going out. I was still on lots of pain meds and sleeping lots.

I agree with Christine. I had my last lap on Valentine's day last year, never did end up celebrating it but I didn't mind. I say if it's important maybe celebrate a few days in advance?

As for Disney, if you have surgery on the twelfth, you'd be right about the 3 week mark. Depending on how much you have done this might be doable, but I think you will still be tired and a little sore. Are you someone who likes to ride all the crazy, bumpy, thrill rides? If so it would be hard. If you can enjoy walking around, resting here and there, and the slower paced rides it might be ok though. Everyone is different so it's hard to judge.

The 19th really just puts it too close in my opinion though...

I didn't even think about the rides I was just thinking about all the walking. I was still hurting a bit walking up and down stairs at three weeks. I think rides that are going to whip you around are gonna hurt bad...even at three weeks post.

OK I rescheduled my plans for when I'm feeling better (the girl I;'m going with also has endo so she totally understands) getting surgery on Feb 26th and planning on a trip to Pittsburgh March 4. Do you think I will be ok to travel and such than? I'm visiting the boyfriends brother (and the girl I'm going to Disney with is their sister haha). But do you think airplane travel will be OK?

I think that'd be fine. I flew 2ish weeks after my last lap, but I had my husband to help with luggage so I just had to drag myself through the airport is all. I flew home alone at about 4 weeks post-op and it was fine. My flight was only about 2 hours. I would run it by your surgeon to be sure...they might request you wear TED stockings or something due to increased risk of blood clots after surgery. My flight was so short it was ok to do without though even though my surgery went long (around 4 hours).

Yes travel by April 4 should be fine....you'll even be able to lift by then. (I had a 25 pound limit for two weeks).
Sneezing and coughing hurt but it's sort of like it hurts when u do it but then it doesn't.

Alana I had a lap done on 01/27 and I am going back to work today. I would suggest more time to rest but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I do think traveling you will be fine but a lot of walking a few weeks after will get exhausting and cause pain. As far as the lap its self you will be completely fine, we are all here for you and trust me these other ladies have helped me a lot with all the many questioned I had :). You will have discomfort from the lap, of course but I would say get something to help with gas, when they have to pump your stomach up, that air settled in my shoulder and back and it was very uncomfortable and the gas meds gives it some relief. Get as much rest as you can after and let others do stuff for you so don't over do it. I am saying that from my experience. Good luck

Thank you! I rescheduled Disney but am still going to Pitt on April 4 (that's about 5 weeks after my surgery) do you think that will be ok? What meds did you take for the gas pain? Was it PAIN or discomfort that you experience? I asked for 2 weeks off from office work (I work for my dad and my boyfriend thank god so my jobs aren't in jeopardy or anything). Any other advice? I am TERRIFIED literally. Do you feel good enough to go back to gym (I also horseback ride so I hope to go back to that as soon as possible)

Alana I know horseback riding and exercise are important to you but if you focus so much on when you can do those again you will rush your recovery and that won't be good. The amount of time it takes for you to feel yourself will depend on what id done during your surgery. I was always back to work in 7-10 days and walked slow as to not wear myself out. Going on vacation 5 weeks after should be ok but definitely not before that. Everyone doesn't get gas pain and sneezing may or may not be uncomftable but it doesn't hurt. After your surgery you will prob sleep on and off for 2-3 days (it takes about that long for the anesthesia to wear off. Make sure for those few days you take your pain meds as prescribed because it's better to keep the meds in your system than have pain and have to wait for them to kick in. But you could also not really feel any real pain. You won't know until you wake up and get home. Good luck.

Thanks- yeah I'm planning on taking 2 weeks off work (of course if I'm feeling better I will go back sooner!) I am not going on vacation until April 4th so only after 5 weeks will I be going on vacation the Disney trip was postponed it doesn't matter I live 2 hours away and annual passes so its not a huge deal (I just got back from there Sunday anyway so that trip isn't worth losing sleep over it can very easily be rescheduled). The Pitt trip however cannot be and I don't want to lose airfare money on it. Luckily, we have the exit row seats so we will be able to stretch out a little more. My boyfriend already told me he'd do the lifting of the suitcases and such for me since I may still be sore. But I imagine 5 weeks after surgery I'll be going back to normal?? Trust me, with my vestibulectomy, I slept for days after and finally went out of the house 5 days after surgery because I was going nuts. I'm def not a rookie with surgery, but it IS annoying because I JUST did a recovery. I'm not necessarily focusing on doing everything just wanting to know that eventually I WILL be able to do all the stuff again.

But my pain is getting worse everyday so meh

It's possible at 5 weeks you'll feel back to normal....I usually felt back to normal 6-8 weeks after each. Though I'm 12 weeks post my last lap with right ovary removal....and I'm just now getting back to running. Mostly I don't have the stamina I had before surgery....I have to build that back up. Just listen to your body...if it's telling you it's not ready to do something don't push yourself. Your insides take a lot longer to heal than the outside...sometimes 6 months. Now that's not saying that for 6 months you will be miserable....but like every once in awhile I have a twinge or brief pain still. As for the gas pain my first surgery was the worst for that (didn't have it at all this last one). Mine was actual pain in my shoulder....and lots of discomfort under my lungs.
