I have been diagnosed with endo since I was the same age as you and believe me, I understand!! But I do have 2 children so it is possible. I know there are quite a few on here who do have issues with infertility that may offer more pointed advice. Many of us have had a lap done and while it is surgery, it is very non-invasive and recovery is not usually too prolonged. Everyone here is super nice and helpful and it really makes a difference to be able to talk to people who "get" it. I hope that it gives you some peace of mind to read other's stories.

i have endo and so does my mum. last year, she had a pretty complicated laparoscopic surgery. i was worried, just like you, because it's SURGERY! so i went with her for her appointment, brought her home, stayed overnight.... she needed help figuring out how to get out of bed in the morning. and she asked me to help her do things that required her to bend at the waist... but she seriously told me, after the 2nd night, to go home. she was able to get out of bed without help, and we'd set things up so she woudlnt have to squat for a while longer (put the cat food bowl up on a table, etc. cat's dont mind jumping for food ;) ) ...so i totally understand why you're scared. but i'm also very sure you'll do just fine. i've got a few clients that have had laps done, and they tell me it's not as horrifying as it sounds. :)
btw, scopy means "view" or "see"... laparoscopy just refers to the way they can see the area they're working on. learning things like this make me less scared, so i hope that helps you, too. :D

i got diagnosed with endo at 17 years old and i am now 18. i had a laprascpopic surgery done which it only took me 30 minutes to get done with the surgery. its non invasive so no huge cuts or scars and the healing time is faster. it only took me 3 days and i was back on my feet. endometriosis can make it harder for you to have a baby and cause infertility but its not impossible. its been 6 months and i am going to need another surgery because the endo is back as well as more adhesians. nothing so far has worked for me so im going organic and herbally. but everyone is different. good luck

Get the book "Living Well With Endometriosis: What your doctor doesn't tell you that you need to know". It explains the disease, the treatments, the symptoms and anything else you need to know. It is not scary once you learn about it and know how to fight it.
I had 2 laparoscopies and both went fine. The first was with an untrained stupid doctor, who did not admit she couldn't treat endo. The second was with a specialist, who did a great surgery and I got a LOT of relief. Everyone is different, but it took me about a week to be up and functioning again. It takes about 4 days after to get out of bed etc. It is scary being put out, but after the only problem you face is pain in the incisions (Which are small and heal quickly) or constipation. Sometimes you get pain in your shoulder for a day while the gas goes away.
I would suggest learning about endo more and you will find it is something you can cope with. the gals on here are great for support and info.

Hi meg! I'm twenty, been diagnosed with it since I was 16, and had a laperoscopy. It certainly isn't a day at the circus, but it's very manageable. I know it sounds scary, but hey, it's outpatient, and not long at all. The worst pain for me that I remember is not being able to pee for a few hours after, and feeling sore when bending at the waist. For the vast majority of people I know with it or heard of, it's fairly easy recovery, one of the mildest out there. There's not even any noticeable scars! Overall, very pain relieving in the long run, especially when combined with the pill. Plus, I know several adult women with endo that have had children. Take care, and give yourself a hug! you can do it!

DON'T BE SCARED! i have enjoyed the results (pain relief) after a lap that i have had 2. i did it late in the week so that i would have the weekend to recover. usually, a lap is the only way to know for sure if its endo and it is a condition that you will want to have treated as soon as possible. a lot of women with it can have kids, but i also know of one that didn't get it treated in time- a long time- and had to have a hysterectomy due to scar tissue connecting the organs in her abdominal cavity. not to scare anybody, but that was a big motivating factor in me having the procedure. the worst part of recovery for me was the pain in my shoulders from the gas and the bloating.
