Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Strangely, my nerves are calm (kind of). But I have my pre-op tomorrow and surgery on Friday. I wanted to know what YOU would ask before your surgery- I obviously have a ton of questions of my own, but really don't want to be surprised on Friday with something I forgot to ask about. So any advice would be helpful
Sorry to hear you are facing surgery. I just had mine tree weeks ago. I can't think of anything to tell you to ask, but I will tell you to really LISTEN. I was such a tangle of worry, that I didn't write anything down that they told me to do, and I ended up calling the office several times asking questions that they had already given me answers to. Take a notebook, write notes, and any paperwork directions they give you, make sure you read more than once.

Ask if there is any scenario where they would take out organs (appendix, uterus, ovaries for the most part). My doc told me up front he was going to take my appendix out cause they cause a lot of trouble for women with endo. Not only do they grow endo (mine did) but when you go to the ER or anything in pain they have to rule out appendicitis so taking it out prevents that issue.

Have you thought about how you would feel if you woke up and was told you need a hysterectomy or ovaries removed? I personally would be pissed off if i had surgery and they woke me up just to tell me i needed to come back and have another surgery. So before all my surgeries I wrote on my pre-op papers that they had my permission to remove uterus and overy(s) if they needed to. And also told whomever was at the hospital with me. Just something to think about.
There are risks with everything but they are slim to none. Sometimes i can be a little difficult to pee afterwards but that should go away quickly ... they will make sure you can pee before you are discharged.

Like whyme said, they have to tell you what ask the risks are even if they are super slim. I've had four laps and all of them were different. This last one was the only one I had trouble peeing after....and actually I could pee....but I would pee a little....then kind of have to force my bladder to empty....it wouldn't do it on its own...That lasted maybe a day and a half. This last surgery I also had very little gas pain....where my other ones were bad.
You will be just fine!!!
One thing to keep in the back of your mind, endo is a chronic disease...very rarely does it just go away....so though you may not want another surgery (who does!?!) The likelihood is going to be there that you will have to. I never thought I'd have 4 surgeries in 6 years.....but it happened.
Just try to calm your nerves.....look forward to time off work and just getting to rest your body (in someone who rarely takes time off work so I cherished my two weeks off...LOL!!) Watch some good movies!! Let yourself be taken care of. And just breathe. It will all be fine.
Oh one thing is if you can remember, ask the nurse to write down when they last give you pain meds before you go home. I had a terrible time remembering that this last time...and I think I got in too much pain because it had been longer than I thought since I'd had pain meds.
