I just underwent my first laproscopy five days ago where I had a cyst excised along with having numerous small endo tissue either burned off or removed with a laser (not sure).

I am wondering if this is normal or something to be concerned about. I have two cuts, one inside the bellybutton and one to the far left near my pelvic bone.

Yesterday while sitting down, I felt a sharp burning pain about an inch and a half directly below my navel and I still get the burning feeling expecially when touching the site. Also, the area around my navel is bruised. Oddly, this bruising was discovered right after the burning sensation started.

What could be causing this burning pain? And, is bruising normal?

the burning is getting worse and i am really getting concerned. any idea what it could be?

I think the bruising is normal. I had quite a bit. I don't think the sharp burning feeling is, though. If it is bad enough to concern you, then I would call the doctor. Hope you feel better!

i to am about 4 weeks out from my first lap and the words black and blue didn't begin to describe how bruised i was. the doc said it was abnormal the amount of bruising. however i was in a fair amount of pain and one of my incision sites actually ended up being infected putting me back in hospital for 5 days. the doc also told me a post operative infection like i had is quite rare because they actually use a robot so they greatly reduce the risk of infection.
however given you symptoms i would be watching it seriously for infection.
go straight to the doc or the hospital if you your burning pain continues. if that site is swollen , hard hot and red and any puss coming out GO TO THE DOC! also if you peak a fever and nausea again go to the doc!!! if any or all of these symptoms ( i had all of them by the time i went back to hospital) go to a hospital. you don't want more complications!

Hi there,

I'm two weeks post lap and ended up having 5 incisions. I did not have any bruising or any burning sensations at my incision sites. I would definitely call your doctor ASAP.

Thanks for the replies. The spot of the burning pain is actually two inches below my bellybutton and not at an incision site. The pain has diminished but is still tender to the touch. Also, the bruising is gone.

I am likely going to call my dr about the soreness below my navel, but does anyone know if this could be the result of internal healing? I had one cyst excised as well as having a good dozen or so small endo lesions either burned or lasered off. Being as the majority of endo was on my pelvic wall, could this be what is causing the pain?
