Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I haven't had a pap in 3 years, and I had one a few days ago and it was really, very painful but I expected that as it felt the same as the first time I had one when I was 18 before my endo was "fixed." Anyway, it's been a little over 3 days and I'm still cramping a lot and still spotting. I know it's normal to have a fair amount of bleeding immediately after, but I am still totally spotting right now :( How can I make it stop? I really don't want to take a break from my pill because I am supposed to go 3 months without a period and it has only been 1 month since my last period. UGH! So frustrated and in pain!!

You should not bleed after a pap smear. Give your doc a call. You may have to let your period come.

I agree with whyme123. You should not bleed after or be in pain several days after. You definately need to call the doc and investigate this further. Maybe you need a referral to a specialist (not sure what type of doctor you are seeing)?

I will sometimes get a little crampy after, and have some discharge, but haven't had bleeding. Hope you can find an answer!

I am always crampy after and have a little bit of spotting - I have a hair-trigger cervix that bleeds at the slightest touch. Three days out is far too long though, I definitely agree that you should call your doctor.

That happened to me and went away after my period ended they said it just sometimes happens and nothing was wrong with my results

I disagree on the fact that you shouldn't bleed or have some spotting after a pap. Everytime I have a pap, I have some spotting for afew days after and sometimes have cramping as well. I think everyone is different in how we react. I would just take afew ibuprofen for the spotting/cramping and see how that goes. Call the office and ask the nurse about taking ibuprofen for spotting or just google it - very common trick to make it stop. Hang in there!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess I will see how everything is tomorrow morning and act accordingly. I just thought it was a little odd... My first pap was so painful but I didn't have any bleeding so I wasn't sure. I bled a lottttt immediately after this one. The doctor acknowledged it since it was so obvious and gave me a pad and said that that happens sometimes... Idk. I went to a new GYN (just a regular one). My reproductive endocrinologist is who I had been seeing for my endo the past four years but she just left the practice to go somewhere else and I was also seeing a uro-gyn for interstitial cystitis and PFD but she also left her practice to go somewhere else (weird unfortunate coincidence) so I don't really have "my" doctor anymore who knows what is normal for me. I guess I will call if I am having problems tomorrow.
