Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
This is my second period after receiving my laparoscopy. The first one was extremely heavy and painful, and once again I am dealing with the same thing for the second period. The pain is nearly leaving me in tears and I am very afraid of having to call in sick to work for 'period pain' as i'm starting to think that my boss may find me to be a flake for always being sick and in so much pain. I've heard that it is normal for the first period to be painful, but is it normal for it to continue? I thought the surgery was supposed to make periods LESS painful, not more! Should I be worried? If it matters, I have one excision of a cyst on my vaginal wall, along with laser removal of numerous small cysts and implants on my ovaries and pelvic wall. This was my first surgery.
after all of my surgery's I had a few months of VERY heavy bleeding, I couldnt leave the house because I had to change my pad every half hour, and the PAIN! EXCRUCIATING! With my last surgery, which was an excision (clean up) surgery, my periods were this way for 6 months. The surgeon, Dr. Kanayama, removed endo from literally everywhere, and it was a long, 6 hour surgery. So, that might account for all of the bleeding and pain. It sounds like you have an extensive amount too which may account for the bleeding and pain. Did you call the surgeon and talk to him about the bleeding/pain? My surgeon warned me that I'd have a lot of VERY heavy bleeding and pain when I got my period for a few months.
Your body is healing still, but soon you'll have better periods.
Can you get a Dr's note from your surgeon? That should be helpful in terms of missing work. Surgery is certainly a relevant reason to miss work!
