Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.

hi girls,
well i just got back from hospital. after seeing my GP yesterday afternoon he admitted me into hospital straight away as I had high blood pressure (for me) and a pulse of 109, fever and abdominal pain.
Unfortunately this was not the time to use my private health insurance.. no offence to the British NHS but this experience was certainly an eyeopener. I was impressed however by how clean everything was though which was a plus. :)
I arrived and no one had a clue who I was or why I was there and I was like umm My name is on the board. Eventually after standing around looking like an idiot. i got shown to my bed sharing a room with 3 other women. I was blessed to be at the end with a window and door near by to let in air. (this not so much of a blessing at night).
Straight away the consultant came in that works closely with my gyne consultant (he was away on holiday) and was obviously told i was a private patient of his friend. He was very good and told me I didn't need emergency surgery which was a concern of his. Good news.
When he left, everything went down hill from there. I never got "checked in" so to speak and all they had was a "Measurement of Vitals" graph to track BP etc.
The secretary to my consultant had kindly photocopied all my notes and had them ready at the desk of the ward before i came. no one decided to look at them or take any note of them even tho i kept explaining why i was there, no one paid attention.
They said they needed to take blood even though my GP took it that morning.. ok.. so yes they took some more blood and came back half an hour later to take some more. Now, I am not a fan of needles at all and basically 3 veins were tapped in my arm for blood within 12 hrs. grrrr.
They took my blood pressure 3 times in all during my stay. when I arrived, 10pm and 6am. I checked out at like 3.30pm so they never even did it a couple times before discharge. This is a funny one too.. the blood pressure for some reason wouldnt read my blood pressure so it got tighter and tighter and tighter (noow i don't like these machines on a good day) o man i thought my arm was going to explode... they had to do an emergency shut down on the machine twice. and i have marks on my arms where the little blood vessels burst. the machine made the pressure in my arm go up to 220 systolic. ... ouch does not even describe.
O and the whole day i hadn't had much to eat because i was feeling sick and got to the hospital just after dinner time and all they could give me were 2 peices of thin bread. this was also the main course for breakfast..
they couldnt keep up with the meds so i had to keep reminding them of what i had to take.
i basically got checked in at 11am this morning which was over 18 hours since i arrived. and actually i have better care at home then i did there.
the nurses work hard, but they need more help because patient care is suffering. the government should not be paying all these "government people" millions when the national health system is suffering so much. you're basically just a number in the NHS.
i wanted to go home so bad despite if i felt better or not coz frankly being there was making me feel worse. i couldn't even sleep with the poor woman next to me being violently sick all through the night and the snoring of the other room mates.
anyway another dr came and told me that my blood tests were "ok" not perfect, but that the antibiotics are working. and that i might be able to go home today..
i was in a lot of pain but desperately needed to go home, so i was able t check out at 3.30. and have made an emergency follow up appt with my actual consultant on tuesday so i know he can check me out thoroughly. he'll be able to explain what went on etc. he can also check out the mirena and see if all thats ok. hopefully my stitiches would have dissolved to allow him access hehe.
all in all they said that i have a post op infection, they told me it might be a post op bladder infection but no one ever told me for sure even though i asked and asked. (after surgery i went on a course of antibiotocs for bladder infection, weird?)
anyway i'm sure i;ll find out all this tuesday.
the moral of this story is, i should have gotten this checked out sooner but was convinced it was a bug. i should have gone into hospital the night before last. but no matter, i am at home with the best nurse in the world my mom :)
again i know this post is a bit all over the place but i am not feeling myself and the drugs are affecting my cognitive skills :)
i do no want to see the walls of a hospital room for a while. especially in the NHS.

i agree with the un organization. it can be so frustrating, when all they need to do is use initiative and read your papers !! i had something simmilar at my appointments, i made the effort to type a symptoms list out like my doc said and they didnt even use it.
wheni was in hospital i had the same with food, they do not even think of feeding you and when i let myself go hungry, my stomach stuffs up for like three days after. always good to take your own food packed, mum always does this for me.
when i was in emergency i ha dthe same, i could not sleep... there was an abusive man yelling the place down threatning staff... they had to strap him down and inject him. then there was the babies ward next door to me.. i literally had the room where i little door was connected to it. and i had the worst migraine and i asked for tablets but no one got back to me until i had to ask again hours later when they moved me to another section lol
they also came in and checked my obs way too many times when i did not even need it done... so deff no sleep for me.
the worst part was... i wanted ot go homw... but i stuck it out so that i will maybe get things sorted/diagnosis etc. they said a gynae wld see me in the morning and he WILL get to the bottom of this... well they discharged me in the morning with no one seeing me at all... here i am a year later s till waiting for my diagnosis...
xx
