Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Just got back from an endo specialist! It's so hard because I have a few doctors who I think are good, but they say very different things. The specialist just said there are different schools of thought.
This doctor is a big believer in Lupron. I've always wanted to stay away, but this doctor swears by it and says that it needs to be used to suppress the endo before you use bc pills to maintain where you are at. She also said that in her 20 years of using it, she has only seen a few bad experiences. She says the add-back therapy makes all the difference. She also said a lot of people with bad experiences have other health problems.
So for those of you that have taken Lupron...
What has your experience been like?
How long were you on it for?

Well, I can't give much insight as I just started my first injection 4 weeks ago or so, but I'm doing the add back pill, and so far my experience hasn't been too bad. I've elected to do the 6 monthly injections. I did go through a little patch where I was quicker to anger than normal, but since I was aware of it possibly happening, it wasn't too bad. The worst part has been the whole it gets worse before it gets better bit. My pain increased tremendously the first couple of weeks, but it's dying down now. Also, my breasts were REALLY tender. Like, I didn't want to wear a bra, and if anything touched my nipples it was awful, but that only lasted a few weeks. As of yet, I can't tout any benefits, but it's still too early to tell. I go for my second injection the day after my 24th birthday, and I have no objections because I think this can really help me. Also, my doctor said to take 1000mg of calcium just be safe. I've been taking 2 of the 1500mg of coral calcium a day with no problems. Hopefully some of the lupron veterans will chime in. I'm interested to read about their experiences.

I did three 3 month lupron shots. Two in six months then the third 6 months later. For myself I disagree with your dr. True the side effects of the shot ( hot flashes, insomnia, night seats) are tempered by the addback but I had NO pain for the first three month shot ( well excluding the first two weeks when endo symptoms increase). When I went back for the second shot she noticed I wasn't given the add back so she gave it to me. Within three days my pain was worse than it was before the shot! Other than that lupron worked for me.

I wish I could tell you more than this, but I just got my first 1-month injection yesterday to try it out. I really didn't want to do Lupron, but at this point I am almost out of options. I noticed last night I had a REAL hard time falling asleep. I think it took me an hour to an hour and a half. I was pretty sweaty last night, a little more than usual, but that could just be gay German weather and the lack of air conditioning in our home (I know, it makes ZERO sense!!). Also, I was on a real peroid last night...I haven't had actual red blood in I don't know how long, since I am on Mirena as well. Pain is a little worse, but then and again it has only been one day. I will try to keep you posted as well...maybe this info can help you make a better decision!!! So far, almost every gyno I have seen that knows what Endo is has swore by Lupron. She did say it will get worse (much worse) before it gets better, but only time will tell. I also have a script in for the add-back pills, but I can't pick them up today because I am stuck at work until after the pharmacy closes, & they aren't open on weekends!!! At least I have enough pain pills to last me through the weekend. =D Let me know if you have made a decision!!

hotchocolate, what endo specialist do you see or have seen and been successful and unsuccessful with? Im trying to find a good specialist also and would love to know which ones you've been to. Thanks
