Looks like its Depo....

So I posted about 2 weeks ago now.

Long story short I've been on the progestin only pill for my endo after taking the lupron shot and its been working well, then I lost my health ins and had to switch to a cheaper generic dose and was on it for the past 3 months and all my endo stuff started happening again. :(

So I went to the gyno and they said that there wasn't a stronger dose and due to my breast cancer history they would have to check with my oncologist about my other options.

They called yesterday and they are closed today, but they said my oncologist cleared the depo shot as an ok treatment since I've done well with the lower dose progestins for over a year now.

But I'm still worried with this being a stronger dose and I wish all those fears would go away. I was on it long before I had cancer and only had 2 or 3 shots before I had to stop due to bad depression.

I know I"m in a different time and space now and wish I knew the outcome of taking the shot.

Has anyone else done the depo and what were your side effects?

I did depo for 13 months, even though your period goes away I still had a week every month of pain, nausea, and vomiting. Other than that week it did help. But it's not a long term thing or "cure" my endo got worse over the 13 months. And you can't be on it long because it weakens your bone density. That's just how it was for me. Good luck!

If you had depression before, I'd be willing to bet it will happen again especially with a higher dose. I refuse to take anything like that because you cant just stop taking it like you can birth control. I actually just stopped taking the pill 2 weeks ago Friday. I stopped bleeding about 5 days later which was great! Every pill I had been taking made me bleed constantly. And the pain went away. You may want to see if that could help you too? Personally, I wanted to get off hormones to see what would happen, and its been nothing but positive!

I know depo can cause bad depressions, weight gain, etc. I would rather take a pill and be able to stop when I want rather than wait for it to be ineffective. BUT some people do get good results. I just know a lot of people stop taking it because they gain a lot of weight.

Depo provera is the only thing I can take. I had anxiety before but this last time I was on it for three months....My anxiety got pretty bad. This was the first time I actually lost weight instead of gained. But it also made my fibromyalgia pain worse this time. It's absolutely the only thing I can take.
