Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.

I'm having my 3rd surgery of the year and never thought I'd be here a year ago. Many of you know my story. For new endo sisters, I'll put it on here to give you inspiration and/or information for the future.

So, in March I had a D&C for a miscarriage which was mis-diagnosed. 3 weeks later I was back in the hospital for extreme pain. they thought it was a cyst. turned out it was - plus an ectopic pregnancy. my tube burst and was diagnosed with endo. Scaried day ever!!
Now 6 months later I've seen specialists for endo (sort of), and specialists for fertility. Turns out my tubes are stretched. In the fertility world, this often happens from endo. So fluid does go through them (they do a test for that if you see a fertility expert), but there is too much fluid, and the fluid doesn't flow the way they expect it to.
My surgeon said if I was 10 years younger (I'm 35), he would try to repair them first, and we could continue to try on our own.
But I'm not. So he recommends removing the tubes and going straight to IVF. Why remove them? Stretched tubes trap fluid, and that fluid turns toxic. The toxic fluid then continues to go into the uterus and kills any embryo in the uterus. So, out they go!! They have found that people with stretched tubes have a 50% reduced chance of success with IVF if the tubes are not removed.
This is relatively new findings - so if you are seeing a fertility doctor, ask them to do an HSG and even if your tubes are open, ask if they are normal sized.

Attitude is everything and YOU are our Endo cheerleader. You will get through this just fine. You encourage us when you may not be having the best day. My thoughts will be with you and please let us know how you are doing.
I bought a soduku (easy version) for the waiting room.
I also saw my OB GYN today (not the surgeon, just my baby doctor), and he was AWESOME. He told me not to tell work that I have endo. He said it is one of the worst understood diseases and gets less sympathy than it deserves. He also recommended not telling my office I'm doing IVF (naturally!!) because they will know I'm trying to go on maternity leave in the not-too-distant future.
Cool guy, I'm glad I switched doctors.
I have an appetite and feel sore, but generally ok. I can already tell that this lap was much better than with my OB gyn before. Surgeons rock!!!
