I just got back from the hospital they found a cyst on my left ovary. it's looking more and more like a hysterectomy .. I just have to make it till the 8th of feb and see the specialist so I can go over all of my options. they doped me up pretty good and im itchy all over lol . But I know what you are talking about it happened to me . I always itch when I take pain meds so that could be it to . are you taking anything for pain? I don't know what makes it stop besides putting lotion on and even then it doesn't help all that much. Hope you feel better !

Yes! I hitched horribly after my hysterectomy, for almost 2 weeks. I went through a whole tube of anti-itch cream. It was never on the incision itself, just all around. I called the nurse, and she said it was probably a reaction from the stuff they use to clean you before the surgery. Sounds a lot like mine, so that could be it. I recommend benadryl spray. It works wonders.

Oh, I feel for you. I agree with the girls. I itch when I take certain pain meds, but you would be itching in other areas as well- like all over. If your itching is near the insision area only, it is likely a reaction to the antiseptic they clean you with. Just keep an eye on the actual incision to make sure you don't show any signs of infections.. Take care and rest up.

Its the area around the incision, not the incision itself. I take percocet and hydrocodone, both 5mg. I've taken them before (to get high, yes, bad Schala, I know) and they've never caused any itching at all. Just a warm pleasant feeling. Right now, with the pain, they're not giving me any warm, happy feelings. Haha. Tempted to just save them all until I get better then take for the lulz. My pain isn't bad enough to need them, honestly. Ibuprofen plus liquid codeine works fine for me. My sis has liquid codeine (2 bottles of it!) and she lets me take that.

But anyway, the itching is def not cuz of the pain meds. It might be due to the antiseptic stuff she used or it might be due to the sticky stuff. She put sticky stuff around the areas where my staples were and then put white bandage looking things on them. Maybe thats causing the itching. 2 days now, and the itching hasn't stopped! I'm gonna try some itch cream tonight so I can sleep (though one Ambien usually knocks me out, sadly I ran out).

You want to save your pain medication untill you're better and take them for "lulz"? How about saving them incase you might need them. I'm sorry that comment is just a sore touch in here, when people take pain meds for "lulz" it makes it harder for somene in agony to get any. I know you were given them for pain, so essentially no harm done, but it'd be nice to think if you're not taking them for their purpose to not take them at all.

Anyway, hope your itch gets better!

My family is noted for having a very high pain tolerance! The doctor told me that I should have been in absolute agony with that huge mass in me. The fact that I only felt shooting pains during my period was unusual. I'm actually planning on saving the pain killers for my wisdom teeth. I've heard from several people that dentists don't like to give out pain killers, and my pain tolerance for my teeth is NOT high. I broke a wisdom tooth shortly before surgery and I was in AGONY! It hurt worse than the endo did. Haha. So really, not for the lulz, for the wisdom teeth. The teeth hurt worse than the endo ever did for me. Maybe I am just lucky.

I'm gonna try some suggestions, like itch cream, tonight and hope it helps. This itching is almost as bad as the broken tooth.

I wasn't meaning to offend by anything I said. I know how you feel. I hate when people talk about taking anxiety meds just for the lulz as I would say, since I had really bad anxiety, so I can totally see how that would be offensive to you. I didn't mean to offend, and as I said above, I really am planning on saving them for my wisdom teeth, cuz they hurt like heck. I apologize for making an insensitive comment. Hopefully all is forgive. =)

Yes it is =) Just boiled my blood abit especially since I can't get the meds I need I felt like saying "SEND THEM TO ME!" or something. It's frustrating on my end. Anyway wisdom teeth are a good idea, goodluck with that :)

Yeah. taters, do you know how soon after endo surgery I can have my wisdom teeth cut out? They're impacted, so I'll have to go under again, so more anesthesia. It hurts like hell, and I can barely stand it! I'm taking 3 500mg tylenol a day and that isn't safe for me, but I can't deal with the pain! its worse than the endo pain was for me. I want these teeth out, but I don't know if its safe since I just had surgery a week ago.

Call up your doctor and ask :) I'm sure the nurse or someone could let you know :)

I just got done talking to the doc earlier today. She said she knows that it hurts, but I need to heal from this surgery more before I have another one. This sucks. I wanted these teeth gone! She gave me some weak hydrocodone and told me that should hold me over until the teeth are out. The itching I posted about in the first place has stopped a little. Its not so bad anymore. Just the occasional itch. Which I guess is normal. We all itch down there once in awhile!

I changed my dressings on my incision site, so that might have helped alot. I'm using surgical tape from Wal-Mart. It said it was sanitary, so I'm hoping I don't get infected.

i have had that trouble to i think your incision is trying to heal around it i know when i had my 2nd surgery i started itching like crazy to where my incision was all around it was itching
