Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Hi ladies,
I was just thinking today and actually kinda (this is going to sound gross) thankful that I am actually having normal Bowel Movements..
Since my lap last month (6 weeks ago) I am finally having normal bowel movements. I have been through the rigour and roll of being tossed to different Dr's because of my severe bowel symptoms that flared up a year ago. (Probably even longer then that). I was told i might have Crohn's, then severe IBS.
I was drugged up to high heaven trying to control these awful symptoms. And of course the drugs added even more symptoms to the bunch.
After coming off the anti-depressants that they told me would help with the so called IBS, the symtoms returned with vengeance. I started looking up endo and bowel links. And i read and read, after speaking to the girls on here, I went to seek a new gyne and to get my endo checked up after a lap the year before. I was this close to going back to gastroentrologist where they would have thrown more drugs at me.
After discovering these bowel problems were not my only serious concern, I had a lap and they removed more endo that was around the back part of the cul-de-sac.
I feel cured of any IBS-like symptoms. To be honest I never thought I had IBS, I can eat pretty much anything and be fine. However the drugs put me to a point where my stomach didn't know to handle any type of food.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is, if you have a history of endo or your Dr suspects IBS. Check out all the options first. Most Dr's won't follow the endo route. My Gynae didn't even think there was anything significant but the proof is in the pudding. Because my bowel is fine. I am not going from one extreme to the other anymore (Diarrhea and Constipation) There's no more straining and pushing so hard I almost black out.
There's hope girls. My Dr after said there is such a huge but fairly unknown link between how endo can affect the bowel and bladder. It doesn't have to be directly on those organs for there to be severe affects from the endo.
Look at all options, make sure your endo is not the source of IBS.
Just felt I should share this. I had given up hope of ever having a normal life. Don't give up. :)

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
yeah if u read up above and actually search for other endo/ibs posts you'll see that endo can very much cause bowel symptoms. to be honest after the surgery i never expected my bowel problems to go away but they have thus proving my endo was causing a large part of it.
i mean i think my stomach and gynae parts are my sensitive points in my body, so if i'm really really stressed i'll notice it there first. but i'm back to living my life again like a normal person!
my dr also said that IBS and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are also linked to Endo.
i got the same from the docs and not knowing if i needed a gynae or GI doc. but i knew my bowel was fine and it was from my 'mystery' thing that was causing all the bowel problems.. as it all came on at once two years ago. i could literally feel 'it' pressing against my bowels.
i also have my problem in the cul de sac, so it was no suprise.. i was even able to tell her before being wheeled into surgery to look to the left in the cul de sac lol.
over studying endo for these two years i came accross many sites that mentioned the correlation between endo and the interfeirence of the bowels. unfortunately there are many docs that would still deny it.
and i also have no doubt that once they may be able to treat the congested vein that all my symptoms will be almost instantly gone!

so glad to hear you're not having any more trouble with your *ahem* functions ;) one can never underestimate the importance of good healthy bms! ;)
