Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Hello! I am brand new on this board and so happy to have found it. Was diagnosed with endo 4 weeks ago after 26 yrs with the disease, and 3 years of horrible horrible back pain. We were trying to get pregnant, and had a "miscarriage." So the doc sent us in for a D&C. 4 weeks later, I was back in the hospital, it was an ectopic pregnancy. :-( Lost my tube, had internal bleeding for 5 days, and they found so much scar tissue that my tube was tied in place to my intestines and side wall. Also had a chocolate cyst - yum (yuck!).
So I joined the Endometriosis association thinking there were local support groups - but they couldn't find one in the DC area - really?!?! Now I have found you.
I'm a strong person, but I must admit that I am very very scared. We want kids so I'm not going back on the pill...and may I say that my health has gone wayyyy wayyyy down hill since going off the pill last summer? It's like "I have what?" this sucks. I always knew something was wrong (no one listened), but now that I really really know, I want it to just go away.
So here is my question: aside from this board, what have you done to feel good about yourself? Shopping? Girlfriend outings?
Also, does anyone still wear high heels? Have you gone through periods where you couldn't wear them, and then it went back to normal?

What about high heels? Do you two (or others) have back problems? Can you wear them? I miss my shoe collection (3+ yrs).
As for sleep, interesting that you mention that. Dr's have asked "does your pain keep you up at night?" and now I want to say back "I can sleep through anything."
When my ectopic burst (they told me it was a cyst, and told me to wait it out till surgery), I took a vicodin, curled up in a ball, and slept off the pain. Next day felt ok, and went about my business. OBGYN now thinks I'm Superwoman. (giggles and sobs at same time)
Always have been able to sleep A LOT.
