It seems likely, what did your doctor suggest?

He didn't say very much about treatment etc. He wants me to go on continuos birth control to stop everything and see does this bring relief from the pain. I think he is still trying to figure out what's going on. I've to see him again in 3 months time. He did say it could possibly be endometriosis. He was very nice and was a bit annoyed that I had been told that it probably was Irritable Bowel Syndrome!

i had one. it got bigger. it got smaller. it didn't hurt. the doc said if i wanted children, she'd want to go check it out surgically. i do not, so we just watched and waited.

after a year or so it became time for me to have surgery due to a different complication the endo was creating, and i asked if we could tie my tubes since i do not have children and they were going to be in there anyway. she suggested we simply remove them to prevent problems.

to be clear, removal of my tubes WAS NOT treatment for the hydrosalpinx. but the fact that my tubes were removed means i don't know how it would have resolved had they hung around.

so the sum of my story is: had it, watched it, no problems, had the tube removed for other reasons.

Thanks Whitedeer. That was very interesting. I think that it is causing some of my pain. When the pain is very bad I can hardly sit down, there must be more pressure on it when I sit. I reckon that my left tube will have to come out.

I have the same thing in my right tube. It was found about 4 months ago while having an ultrasound at the infertility drs. office. I have stage IV endo & am in a lot of pain & will be having my fifth surgery in a week. Two drs. have told me the scarred off & filled tube is not the cause of my pain but I think otherwise. I had increasing pain on my right side & then the hydrosalpinx was found. I was told that endo was the cause, scar tissue on each end of the tube which caused it to fill w/ fluid. I have read that this can happen for other reasons other than endo, so this may or may not be the cause of this in your situation. My surgeon has not given me an answer as to whether or not the tube will be removed during surgery. He wants to wait until he can see exactly what it looks like during surgery. So as far as treatment I cant really help you with any suggestions. I have read that a hydrosalpinx can hurt your chances of conceiving w/ IVF & I am concerned that this may happen to me. The concern is that the fluid in the tube could leak into the uterus & act like poison to a fertilized egg put into the uterus through IVF although my current surgeon has told me that is not a concern, so I dont know. But because of this I am hoping he removes it while he is in there. Sorry you are going through this, I hope you are able to get a diagnosis soon either way so you have a better idea of what is going on.

I have endometriosis and my doctor informed me that it can only be detected through surgery. He had no idea that I had endometriosis but discovered it when he did a laproscopic surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. I believe it is genetic more times than not, but there is a good chance that your mother never knew that she had it.

I suffered for 20 years with "female pain" cysts etc. I was told I had mittlesmertz and believed it for 10 years. Then I had severe pain in my left ovary area. At first I thought it was another cyst, but this pain was worst and lasted a lot longer.
Found the same thing you are dealing with. Fluid filled tube.
I was told it could be caused by endo or pelvic flamatory infection. (It could be from an infection from years before)
I had my falopian tube removed with a laparascoy which is when I was finally diagnosed with the endo.
I chose to have mine removed because of my history (long story short). The doctor did say that sometimes it can sometimes resolve it's self, but can happen again.
