Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Just wondering if anyone else goes through this or if I'm just crazy or perhaps if there's something else going on...
I had an appointment with a different gyno this last Monday 9/13. The purpose of the appointment was to get some insight from her and if she had a different approach on this disease. ( I opted for a consultation only as I have a specialist ) Basically to get to the point without telling you about the entire hour and 45 minute endeavor. My main query is about hormones and how endo affects them. I strongly feel that my levels are completely whacked out at times ( i.e., crying/moodswings, cravings, etc.) and of course they are at their worst during menses. I inquired to her about the possibility on seeing an endocrinologist as I felt it to be in my best interest so that if I could level out my hormones that it could help treat the endo. ( sort of like they do with BIRTH CONTROL, right? ) She looked at me funny and explained that in no way does endo affect my hormones. ??? Then why do they treat endo WITH HORMONES?!?!?! There is no way that my hormones are not affected!!
Does anyone else feel this way? Am I wrong in thinking this? I mean, how can something grown on an organ that secretes hormones not affects them? Endo is all about hormones! MEN get endo for crying out loud!
I am not done with this gyno yet, I will find literature on this and bring it with me. This is not the only thing that disappointed me that day but I'll start with it.

Don't let doctors tell you that hormones have nothing to do with endo. Hormones do affect endo. Best wishes... Stay encouraged.
