Hormone questions

I have been desperately trying to find out why I feel this way. I have been seeing my doctor about weight gain, fatigue, depression/anxiety, and pms pain that makes functioning nearly impossible. I used to have cysts but when I went gluten free they stopped growing and now I just have fibroids. I have also been off birth control for years so my doc sent me to a fertility specialist. He mentioned I might have endo or PCOS. I have had the first few blood tests but so far they are all coming back normal. I know it sounds crazy to feel a bit discouraged like I want to have something wrong, but I just want a name for this so I don't feel crazy anymore. Has anyone else had the symptoms and pain but normal hormone levels? I believe the plan is still to do the lap to find out but I'm afraid they'll just quit like they normally do if things keep showing up normal. Anyhoo, thank you for letting me rant :)

Hang in there girl !!!! You're super brave and determined , and if your doctor and OBGYN quit on you- get new ones. I had similar symptoms to you and it took 12 years and over 10 doctors to be diagnosed by MRI scan. So hang in and keep going. Because a diagnoses always helps :)

I had many tests done for endometriosis, all came back negative. when I had surgery, lo and behold they found it!

You most likely have endo or PCOS, i would try to arrange a laparoscopy if you can.

I had symptoms for years that got ignored until I finally ended up in the ER one night and got almost all the tests done (blood work, 2 ultrasounds outside and inside my body, ct scans) and it all came back negative. I had a few doctors tell me it was all in my head. But i kept trying new doctors until one explained to me that the only real way to know is to get the lap done. They can image all day but the uterus is spongy and can hide cysts or fibroids. Hang in there!

The only sure fire way to know if you have endometriosis present is to have laproscopic surgery, I'm told, but my gyno is letting me avoid that as much as I can. All the symptoms are there, and she's been super good to me. I also agree with if you have doctors who won't listen to a word you say, it's time to find a new one. I'm in that boat currently myself and its a pain to find a new one, but going to my current is just as good as not having a primary doctor.
I have a lot going on with my health that no one can explain because the tests that have been done (and I had to BEG for) all came back "just fine." Although I'm not sure if they've actually tested my hormones. They never really clarified there. I know I have an imbalance and have since puberty, but somedays puberty was better than all this. Just hang in there and if you would, give some updates too! Good luck, love

hi! i'm so sorry for your situation. I feel you about the mood and just wanting to know what is wrong. I have cyclothymia (mild bipolar often triggered by sugar/carby diet, irregular sleep, stress and second half of period cycle is more likely to be mood swingy than others). I had been doing pretty well on an anti-inflammation diet - graduated school, stable relationships and I thought I had beat my depression/anxiety with meditation and all that. LOL. I had surgery 9 months ago to remove some endometriomas (some pretty big) and after the surgery, I'm like back to my 20s and all the mood swings and depressions like one or two days a week. It's brutal. My OB GYN is kind of patronizing, like "oh, you're bipolar, you probably are just imagining your depression/anxiety was better.." --- but I'm not. My pain wasn't that bad - I honestly wish I could put the endometriomas back in cause I think they were somehow stabilizing some aspect of my hormones. And yes, by the way, I've been getting my hormones tested for years and they're like "they're normal." After the surgery, I saw an endocrinologist a few times - she was young but very honest - she was like look 'we are still discovering things about genetics and still discovering hormones. in 20 years, we might be able to actually see what's wrong with you. right now, our tools are just not precise enough."
