Herbs vs the Pill

Curious.... i was on Vitex before i got pregnant for my daughter to help regulate my periods and i did soooo great on it. Looking back, i've had an estrogen dominance for a while. Anyway, after Lupron, my doc wants me to go on the Pill until... well, until forever. lol! Or until menopause. I know this is pretty standard for endo. i just really hate being on the Pill, i always have weird side effects (and my tubes are tied so that makes it really really annoying)

Curious to know if anyone here is doing herbs like Vitex or False Unicorn Root, etc. i am still researching the use of herbs with endo but would love to hear from anyone that just started using herbs has in the past, etc etc.

i use lots of herbs and supplements that i found on a sight called endometriosis resolved.. check it out

I don't want to be debbie debbie downer, but I tried tons of supplements and pills and more supplements and supplements on top of supplements and it did not seem to help.

Between my second and third IVF cycles I had to take a break from IF to deal with the Endo that had flared up pretty good. Virtually desperate to get me body back to normal (haha thats one hell of a subjective terms for us huh) I started Acupuncture and Chinese herbs through my Acupuncturist and with my DR knowledge. I had just come off of everything IF related and I had ONE cycle before I started Lupron for 3 months and while I was under my Acupuncturist treatment with herbs, I figured that cycle would be hell, much to my surprise it was a normal a cycle as I had ever had, I mean like freakin text book weird! I then went on the Lupron and continued the herbs throughout, they were adjusted to take that into consideration and again my time on Lupron was fine. Side effects minimal, felt pretty good. Now like I said I went through my Acupuncturist who saw me twice a week and adjusted my herbs every two weeks the herbs were created specific for me and by an accredited lab and heres the kicker they were PRICEY! Like $80 plus every two weeks and $80 buck a week for Acupuncture. But damned if I wasnt convinced. Oh and herbs holy yuck! Had to drink them warm and they were gross. Only thing I found that help was a chaser of birch beer.

So Im a proponent of Eastern and Western medicine I think they can work beautifully together but Id be very cautious of doing anything on your own. And Id be a little leery of cutting one out for the other. But if you can find a way of getting them to work together awesome. Im still going to the acupuncturist to help with my overall state of being, but on continuous BCP Im not on any herbs. Might consider it again as some point given the right circumstances.
